SweetFX and Reshade

Postby Loriath » Wed May 06, 2015 3:33 pm

I just installed Reshade with SweetFX and downloaded a profile for elite from the SweetFX database and am quite happy.

Is anyone else using it? Does it affect EliteOCR performance?

http://reshade.me if your interested. Quite painless.

I've not heard of this before, looks interesting, does it need a monster machine to apply the effects?

Looks pretty sweet Loriath, where did you find the profile for Elite Dangerous? Or did you write your own?

I've used sweetfx in euro truck and a few other games but never considered it for ED. I'll have to try this when I get home from work.

Thanks Kharma! That makes it look a lot nicer, I'm going to install that tonight definitely!

My Rig is an older I5 quad core and a GTX650. Lose about 3 fps. Makes it a lot nicer on the Eyes with the preset I got. You can get it here http://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/1777/

Here is what I did. Download the Reshade + SweetFX pack. Unzip it into a folder. Take the download of the SweetFX_Settings.txt and put it in the SweetFX Folder (Either Rename the one that is there or Overwrite it). Then Run the Reshade Setup.exe and point it to the Elite Dagerous 32.exe file in \%appdata%\local\Frontier_Developments\Product\FORC-FDEV-XXXX folder (That number is different for everyone.)

It will install itself and when you next launch ED it you should see the Reshade info come up before the Elite Logo Screen. Scroll Lock toggles it on and off. If you get a Black screen on launch, see this thread on the ED Forums for help.

If anyone comes up with their own settings, maybe post them so we can try them?

Just tried it - yes, it's different, but better?

Definitely subjective. I prefer the less vibrant colours on the HUD, and there seems to be more contrast in the light differences when looking at regions of space.

I am hoping one of the Wizards who use or try this come up with a huge game changing look and posts their settings here.

Here's my settings - been playing around with it a bit today.

Don't forget to turn Antialiasing off in video options, I have Bloom turned off also.
