Well, I've mentioned him on a few occasions so I thought it was time to introduce him to y'all.
He's called MERLIN - after the engine, not the wizard

Two & a half years old now, and my very first canine. Yes, the Lion was a total cat-person for may decades.
He has his own FaceBook page, some about him & a lot of 'animal humour'.

i'm in the opposite position right now, i'm a dog person and always will be but my dog Ice died just over a year ago and i now have a few stray cats hanging around that i feed - i figure every meal i give them is one less bird they kill (i like birds too)
great dog, and great facebook page too

Thank you, clivewil

I lost 4 feline masters to the roads of Zaandam in 5 years. The last, my 'momma cat', "Pixel" (Because she was a small part of the big picture) just broke my heart. I knew I could never have another cat. A year without a 'familiar' and I was starting to crack up. I knew the people across the road had dogs, but had never got close to them due to problems we'd had with their teenage son. But I bit the bullet & talked to them. Or perhaps more accurately, they busted me while I was on my knees 'talking to' their 3 fluffy white puppies through a baby-gate at their front door.
Only turned out that they are rehabilitation trainers for one of the big international dog rescue charities!
- Like Bosnian street-dogs with bullet scars

So, I worked with their pack for maybe 3 months before being 'approved' as psychologically & spiritually ready to become an Alpha Dog.
I've never looked back!

Anyone who gives a shelter animal a loving and kind home is a great thing. Thank you Lion for giving Merlin a home.
I've got 2 myself, a chichuahua who everyone said was a terror and no one wanted, (he's not he just had severe separation anxiety from being passed around a lot. I hate people buying puppies just because they are cute and then when the puppy grows up dumping the dog because they can't "Deal" with it.
Other Rescue is a Lynx point Siamese mix, and suspect Main Coon because she's huge and yup she's queen of the house.
maybe we shoudl start a pet picture thread ^,^

We've had a few rescued rabbits, our current girl also is a 'rescued' bunny. I can't have dogs, I have an unreasonable fear for them and my wife is allergic to cats.

As the OP I don't have any problem with this thread turning into a developing understanding of each others' positive experiences from sharing parts of our lives with non-humans

(And I don't mean the mother-in-law. You KNOW what I'm talking about, guys

)

Her highness demanding I vacate her throne, She will get between me and the back of the chair and try to push me out.

Her highness as a princess surveying her kingdom from the highest rock... am so glad she grew out of doing that.

He thinks he's a cat and also if he gets high enough that you will acknowledge him and do what he wants.. outside, food, play.

Well.... since we're sharing photos of our furry kids....
This is Luna. She's a 10 year old yellow Lab mix. She must have been the runt of the litter, because she only weights 50lbs. My wife and I rescued her from a shelter when she was about 1.5 years old. She's been a great addition to our little family (it's just the three of us). She's my confidant and hiking buddy.

on the trail............
