Well, I think it's gonna be a great game, at least the single player part!

I don't see why. Frankly I don't get the SC vs. ED arguments, both should be able to live together, I think they'll be different enough to coexist.

Well, I am a backer of SC too since mid 2014, at that time I was not aware of ED. SC looks to be promising and exciting when it is ready, but in the meantime I play ED and love it.
I think lots of people have both and I see nothing wrong with that.

I've looked at the SC site twice and both times come away with the impression that it's going to be a play to win game where you have to fork out a lot of real money to get anywhere. It does look good though.

This is my biggest concern as well, also how much of the game play is actually just time fillers. I watch a Kate Russell stream where she need to get her ship, this involved walking to a console in a lobby, accessing a screen, requesting her ship, then walking outside to a hanger, and getting in her ship. I can see this being fun the first few times, then just being a pain.

I'm sure I've probably missed something, so at the moment I'm in a wait and see state.

I put the lowest amount of money into SC as I could to get me the game, chances are I would pay that much just for the single player part.

As for the persistent universe, I can see it being a bit of a mess, rather than take ED's example and focus at first on the core game they seem to be trying to supply it all and while that's a worthy ambition I'm not sure the game quite needs farming in space. While the 1st person stuff is all fine and good, I can't see myself wanting to be playing a 1st person shooter when there are spaceships to be flown.

The game isn't planned to be pay-to-win, the spaceship sales should stop before release (they only continued on as long as they have because customers wanted it), so it should balance it self out eventually.

My biggest concern is how easy it is going to be to ruin this game with greifers, I've not seen anything about PvP/PvE seperation and the problem with having a physics engine people can mess around with is that there will always be people messing around with it in public spaces.

Friend had big plans for an ingame radio station so I went in a bit and got an explorer ship.. not interested in combat but may do it for Squadron 42.. but all that fell through so I may explore a bit.. otherwise not sure if I will touch the game

I'm looking forward to playing SC in my dotage - when it's a complete game.
I guess that goes for ED too.

Thanks guys My first post was a little tongue in cheek May well see about it with next months pay packet. I am just curious and I am a space nerd, love all space games. Given that the last game i brought for space was Freelancer! Getting a long ovwrdue fix!
