Lemmy

Postby Avago-Earo » Tue Mar 15, 2016 8:28 pm

I play Punk and Ska usually. When Lemmy did one, I decided to give Metal a go in his memory. I just went for it. No fucking around with compression and all that bollocks. Just played.

Nice.

I think there is a lot that can be said for just going for it. It sounded great. I am a little bit biased because I love that Genre, I think that its a fun style for every musician to try. Rep for you for doing just that.

The other thing I will say, is that a Great Song is a Great Song, regardless of the Style it is being done in. I am pretty sure that you could really punk this song up and it would sound great as well. Motorheads stripped down acoustic version of this song shows just that. I have always told my friends and anyone that would listen, that if you take any song and can play it stripped down to just a single guitar and singer and it still sounds good, then its a great song. Flipping Genre's is another thing that can really show off a good song.

Not to familiar with Ska, but I have bookmarked your page to listen more. Always amazed to see the talents that others have.
Thanks for sharing it.

Cheers Loriath. It was such a challenge and I know it's very raw.

Ska is named after the sound of the guitar when you play on the upstroke (strum upwards from the top E strting and it sounds like 'ska' 'ska' to a reggae beat but a bit faster). It brought the kids together ie skin colour meant fuck all just jamming music together. The Skinhead image was a working class thing. Then the far right grabbed it and tried influencing young people into the National Front at football matches. So people like me turned our backs on such nonsense. Punk came and went and actually stays. Then the Two Tone thing erupted, mixing Ska and Punk. But the NF were waiting. They tried to destroy us. They tried to divide us. They failed. Look at Metal now; the influences from Punk, Rap, Ska.And look at the nfluence in Punk from Metal. The nazis failed.

Black and White Unite

Here's a song by The Specials I think sums it up nicely. You hear that tight tebbly chugga cha guitar? That's Ska more or less. This song is about unity:
