Actually maybe I won't put this one on steam. That way steam friends don't see I'm on and try to distract me and I don't want to know how many hours I'm truly putting into this game! :)

Can anyone give me a quick few lines on what Steam adds to the experience? I've never used it for anything, and the bits I've read talk about it allowing you access to a community. Which we have here.
What am I missing and should I bother?

I have steam but I use it in a very limited capacity. For me it's just a place that keeps all my games in one location and automatically updates them! They also have decent sales now and then not that I purchase that much, I tell you will confess to having a bit of a steam habit and that's Mobius, he has hundreds of games on steam. I don't really access the community areas or anything else and I don't have any friends on steam <sniffs and stifles tears>

Yeah the Steam front-end is a software library platform, or steam likes to call it an Online Gaming Platform. Just a good place to have all your games (and you can specificity location installs if you don't like the default on C:Drive). I think its good because it is very gamer friendly with a bunch of great deals and a lot of little extra informational services, stuff like friends/community recommendations, preferences based on playlists or your ratings, game history, friends history, badges, Linux and Mac libraries, etc. With a game like ED or others that also use a launcher (some Origin and Ubisoft games), you will still load it through steams interface AND the launcher will still come up to do the update. But I think Steam keeps the launch up to date for you.

Honestly, I like Steam but like I said I probably won't put ED on there because I have too many other games in there and friends on there that don't play ED so it would be a distraction. But we do have a ElitePVE Steam Community on there so more of our private group to interact with.
