TeamSpeak downtime tonight - tomorrow morning

Greetings, good people!

The VPS the TS is running on will be down for maintenance tonight.
Starting around midnight CET the TS will be down.

Since I'm lazy, I haven't actually setup any sort of autostart when the server comes online again, so I'll fire it up again when I wake up. :)

No worries mate and those auto start scripts can be some hair pulling shit in my modest experience.

Not so impossible on *nix but windows scheduling behaves like petulant child. Hardly any of them worked at all except for that odd one that that ran hourly, downloading an XML file. Which ran for a couple of years before I noticed it saved to started getting big...

This is linux, so it should be fairly easy if only I cba to find a guide and follow it :)
again: lazy..

It's not like it's often I have to do this.

To bad the closest I have gotten to coding was PHP, and that has no compiling time (well it compiles on server query)....
Just instant debugging hell..
(I am not a good coder, and no I wasn't getting paid for it, so I didn't bother becoming good at it :P)

Get to work early to deal with some server stuff, and as everyone is just getting there the power goes out for the whole neighbourhood.

Boss has to walk down 4 flights of stairs because elevator is out to get to my office which is basically a large windowless room waving his Macbook around and looking pissed.

"Hey Loriath, why the hell is the WiFi not working?" He yells to me into a dark room where I am working on my laptop with a flashlight lighting my desk.

"Working On it!" I yell back as I am checking to make sure about 200 servers are going to gracefully shut down if the generator we have to take care of this sort of thing ends up running out of fuel. No idea how long the power will be off. Colleague is on the cell phone to the power company.

"Okay!" he yells back and walks back up the stairs 4 flights to his office with a wonderful large window that is letting lots of sunshine in.

The power was out for 3 days, affected most of the Eastern USA and Canada. Generator lasted 8 hours.

My Point? Your downtime is meaningless :) And I worked for idiots.

hahahah. :D Good story. You should post it to https://www.reddit.com/r/talesfromtechsupport if you haven't already :)

I know it doesn't mean a lot, but I like to announce it anyway :)
