record attempt for the most commanders?

to mark our 20,000 members( should happen sometime between February and March) im asking all our members to add your group leader Mobius to your ingame friend list, the plan is to create a galaxy map image of somewhere between 1000 and 4000 players.
this task can only be achieved with the help of the entire group, so more the merrier.

Won't we all have to be on at the same time, too? Us poor North America types will have to be there in spirit.

Suggestion: a time lapse gif built out of pictures taken over several hours.

It was almost non-stop for a while, but not lately. Then again, I took a break from Elite a few months ago for some more time on Destiny, and then Fallout 4.
I suppose it will be a while before I start getting lots of friend requests again, as I've been invisible until recently.

He, he, I hope you post it on "that" thread on the official forum.
I have a feeling that most people just add their name to the list now, but don't work their way through it adding people, not surprising given the number of names on it.
Why, given the original intent of private groups, that people aren't automatically added to your friends is beyond me.

Time lapse would truly be the way to go, but that would probably tie up his computer for a couple of days :\

just done a count and so far I have 851 CMDR's on my friends list. looking at the galaxy map there is around 40 showing.
I imagine that 11pm uk time would be a rough cross over time for people as people state side would be able to log in during late afternoon and those in Europe would be upto 3 hours ahead.
