Imperial Cutter no good for pew pew?

"A multi faceted ship, lumbering, whalean and, drifts like a Mk 1 Escort with a V8 engine!"

Apparently not particularity good at combat in general, which i think personally is a flawed statement. Like most ships (nay, all of them), you gota know the ships advantages and disadvantages and turn the later into the former.

I aim to demonstrate how the Imperial Cutter is an awesome combat craft to get you not just out of tight spots but also excell in Haz Res sites against Elite NPCs - bring in that rep / rank bump and some decent spondoolies too!

Check out the 'Elite' only: Combat series on my Youtube page.

Just recently put three packhound launchers and a couple beam turrets on a t9, does suprisingly well.

Of course the slf and the dirty drives doesn't hurt.
Any cutter will be better than that.

But I don't really think that's it's a case of the cutter being no good.
More correctly put, the corvette is better at combat than the cutter.

It's the usual binary nature of the Internet.
If something 5% better than something else, the second is considered worthless.
It's enough to cause constant facepalming imo.

Hi Tortorden,

I agree, but my point is that so many CMDrs feel that the Cutter is not a combat viable ship. I have corvette too and TBH, I'd take the Cutter anyday over it. and, the anaconda. Just gota know how to fly it.

Thanks.

It isn't a bad ship, but it is outshon by the Corvette and other combat focused ships like the FDL, vulture and probably the Conda too

It is a good ship, I use mine fro trade though. It is bad enough trying to fly it empty, full or laden with weapons is a nightmare. Like flying a brick, strapped to a toilet, falling from space.

But I agree with Tor, the above is my preference, it is not a terrible ship. Before the Ai upgrade it was easy to trade with it and kill pirates.

Still perfectly easy to trade with, and I sometimes even do.

Not quite to the extent of my pre elite rank days, and it seems with 2.3 FD has bumped up the occasional profit, since EDDB reports loop routes of 5k+ profit per ton.

As for interdiction now, you are perfectly able to fight and win them.
I defeated the interdiction attempt of an elite FAS the other day with my T9, a cutter is a fair bit more manoeuvrable than it in cruise, not to mention better shields.

But after the npc upgrade, you might not be able to kill anything that comes after you with a trade fit anymore, but honestly I'm kind of ok with that.

Same here, I find the best way to get away from pirates in my cutter is to submit to interdiction and boost away when you drop out. They have yet to drop my shields before I can jump back out. I love hauling 720 tons of cargo, not wiling to lose it lol.
