I've been a fan of the Elite series since the original. Yes, the original. I've played every iteration since.
The very 'real' universe model and the 'real' rocket based flight model was the best and most intriguing thing
( and the most difficult part ) of the Elite series. I left off years ago lost in space without fuel in the middle of nowhere
after making a jump at one of those 'special' jump points in a system too far away from the primary to refuel. I had
played for a VERY long time.
When I saw the Kickstarter campaign for this I was extremely excited and followed the development from the beginning
and jumped on my copy as soon as it was released .. completely happy with it ( which is something I seldom say after a game
purchase ). Almost every thing the old ones had + beautiful up to date graphics, and a nice compromise for the extremely
difficult flight physics model. From a game standpoint the only thing I miss is the planetside bases and atmospheric flight.
My only disappointment really had nothing to do with the game itself. It was the other online players I was encountering.
Now I realize that many gamers aren't exactly 'social' ( I do fit that bill, at least in RL ) but most of my encounters ranged from
Quick brush offs to downright rude. It's a shame because the 'Wings' update made teaming up for tough missions and escorting
weak but spacious tankers for huge profit a reality .. practical and easy. Yet, getting hooked up with willing players was like
pulling teeth. I was directed here, to the Mobius group because the Commander that sent me here ( TartanDragon ) thought that
the way this group works is ideal for someone like me, who doesn't really want to go bash in the heads of other players for fun,
but to Co-Op in ways that weren't possible in the original Elite, adding a huge potentially enjoyable dimension to the game. I'm
looking forward to the release of PP and teaming up with those who are willing. Thanks and sorry for the book
