Finding friends is a like painite

Postby Morgan Bateson » Wed Jun 08, 2016 6:03 pm

Hello there commanders!

I'm alias Morgan Bateson. He was the captain of the Bozeman in my favorite ST:TNG episode "Cause and Effect" when the Enterprise get's caught in a temporal causality loop.

But you can also call me Mart.

I'm 43 y/o with wife and 3 kids. I live in The Netherlands. I've been playing solo ever since I bought Elite / Elite Horizons in April. Been playing over 340 hrs since then.

I'm diagnosed with ADHD and suffer mildly from Autism (Aspergers Syndrome). Social life is close to non existent for me. I'm a stay home dad since 2 years when I was unable to work anymore. Been through some rough times, and still not doing all that fine.

Elite Dangerous is, among Kerbal Space Program, what keeps my mind of things. However, the game does challenge my mental state it's hard to be good in dog fighting and any interdiction still gets my blood pumping. The outcome of Elite Engineers update made me stay away from the game for about a week. Didn't want to expose my new Vulture to all those new dangers out there.

Picked up the game after they re-patched and well, I'm doing ok. But engineers and grinding and stuff got me puzzled.

Anyway, I've been always in solo because of not wanting to run into any bad players that like to grief. However silly as it may sound, I'm very eager to find and meet people. Which is why I hang out on Twitch also. Just seems I always end up meeting the wrong ones every.single.time.

People kept advising Mobius for me, saying it's multi player together, BUT friendly.

Take care and fly safe,
CMDR Morgan Bateson

Greetings and welcome to Mobius, Commander Morgan Bateson

You'll find lots of friendly players in Mobius, being able to meet people with out the danger of running into 'bad' players is what we are all about.

The Engineers and its associated grind has a lot of us puzzled, but feel free to ask any questions, people are always happy to try and help out.

As GlobusDiablo has already pointed out, please feel free to add your name to one of our 'In game friends lists'

In game friends list for PC
In game friends list for XBox US
In game friends list for XBox EU

you can check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders if you want to, but it's not in anyway required.

Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already Image.

On top of all of that, we also have a Facebook group and Twitter feed.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.

Finally, if you are interested in being involved, go here to see information about our player group faction, the Order of Mobius (based at Rafferty's Mobius station in the Azrael system). We have our own Discord (voice and text chat) servers for supporters of Mobius, as well as our own Order of Mobius Twitter feed.

Please make sure you have read the Mobius GroupPolicy

Welcome to the group Morgan.
I also (kind of) remember that episode but only vaguely, not that into star trek but it's sure better than star wars..

Been playing Elite since April as well (last year so almost 9 weeks playtime now) still going strong.
I too have a touch (or more) of the high functioning autistic (as they like to call it now, but a rose by any other name still smells as sweet)

Feel free to pop in on the TS, I'm usually there when playing and during the evening I often hang with the the A-team aka :《I think I can jump that. Hold my beer》
If interested we are always interested in meeting new idiots friends.

People call me Bob.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Welcome to our friendly group, commander Morgan Bateson. I have no doubt that you'll meet some of the 'good guys' in E-D by hanging around here. ;)

Elite PVE is a great place to be, so welcome to the group, CMDR! You'll find plenty of good information, and even better people on these forums.

Best way to get to know, well, not everyone, but a few of us, is to jump right into the active topics and/or the team speak. I say a few, since this group is frakkin' massive, and growing daily. (Was at 10-12k when I joined)

Also, if you've not done so, watch the bluray remasters of TNG.. it's life changing. :D

So like ... wow guys...

I just went from having anxiety to join a PvE group to being enthusiastic to join lol.

Forgot to mention I'm on PC (Steam) and I'm playing on a steam controller. Bought that for this game, since I figured playing with keyboard was not my thing. However, I suck at fixed weapons and I'm unsure if that's because of the controller but I hear a lot of that from others too so dunno.

I'm combat rank competent, trade broker, explorer surveyor and allied (but not pledged) with Federation. Finally made it to the 50 million mark and working my way towards (I think) a Python.

Thanks for the warm welcome, feels good. I'm sure to check out the things you mentioned !

And @Darr Valen, I will sure get into that Bluray TNG thanks! ;-)
