Greetings everyone. Picked up Elite Dangerous about a week ago and am having a blast.
A bit about me:
Generally I dedicate myself to one game at a time and just throw myself into it (see WoW, circa 2004-2009). Playing a game that I've taken the time to know well is very relaxing to me, even when that game is throwing all kinds of stress at me. This really seems like the type of game to allow that. Getting things done with some detail and nuance.
I've never been big into PvP; I've always enjoyed playing against others in cards and board games much more. PvE has always been my thing. The AI in games generally offers enough spice to keep things interesting without the idea that somebody out there is painting a target on your back. If you plan properly you almost always win so any losses are your own fault (à la Dark Souls). NPCs also don't hold grudges.
I got in on the Morai CG last week and am now rocking a fat sack of cash (for a newbie) and I'm paying around with different ships and builds to find my comfort zone. Right now that seems like hauler/trader though the thought of a high-stakes data runner appeals to me (is that a thing?). I'm in a Type-6 right now and am contemplating my next upgrade.
