Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hello! This is the first time I play a space flight simulation game. I would like to join a community that can help get the hang of things and make new friends. I have been playing Solo mostly but it gets lonely rather quickly. I'm not a competitive player so PVP has never been for me, I was actually a little scared at the start when I was playing Open, but thankfully nothing happened. When I heard this community focused on PVE I wanted to jump right in with people that can work together and have fun.

I have been doing hauling cargo missions and these couple of days I felt ready enough to find myself some wanted ships. As it turns out, the last guy I killed cashed in a 60K bounty!! YAY! I have upgraded my sidewinder a little but I don't know what else to do about it. I heard something about ensuring my ships... where can I do that?

Your ships are always insured....

Providing you have the funds to cover the excess. Insurance in Elite work, exactly like in real life, the value of the ship dictates the amount of excess you have to pay, eg.

your ship is worth 30,000 credits (if you have none backer version), 95% of thsi 30,000 CR is covered, but you pay the excess 5%, so the maths are...

30,000 - 95% = 1500

So you pay 1500 credits if you destroy your ship, so the more your ship is worth the more you pay to get it back exactly how it was.

if you do not have the cash to pay the excess, you go back to a basic sidewinder.
