Hi all!

First off, my Time Zone: EST (US East)

I'm your friendly neighborhood all-rounder (though my highest rank ATM is in combat) :D
This means, I enjoy flying as bodyguard for transporters or explorers, I don't need constant action and if I want to I can always do some combat sites running. So generally speaking, I'm a patient guy. I enjoy learning and sharing my knowledge of ED with others, while being in ED or here on the forums.

My experience outside of ED but space-(MMO) related - I have enjoyed the very first Elite and some of its successors. I also have extensive experience with EVE (I've pretty much done it all, even participated in full-fleet battles AKA 256 ships), which I started Q3 2009 and have been only on-off for a few weeks each time, until end of 2013 when I put an extensive amount of time and effort into it - until I quit for good mid-2014 (because, and that's my personal opinion, EVE is a money-sink AKA "legal scam", plus an immense time-sink of which it was for me about 10% good fun, the remainder a chore, hard work and even to the point of frustration).

But enough of that. I also enjoy some other games (if you have Steam, add me and have a look at my library, if you like), specifically Dota2, though lately (last 6 months or so) I've exclusively stuck to mods and thus not been doing any normal matches.

In regards to ED, I should note that I have the "Lifetime Expansion", so I'll be one of the first exploring whatever new content will be available. My PC setup currently is Asus ROG Maximus 7 Formula, i7-4790K, 32GB Ram, EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN X 12GB HYBRID GAMING, "triple-head" (3 x 27" curved Samsung monitors mounted on a monitor stand), TrackIR 5 Premium and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro - I'm very happy with my setup, though I'm still getting used to it and especially with the flight stick I'm not yet as efficient in combat as with mouse / keyboard.

My aim in ED is to be a good team-player, have fun doing things together. Though that can be a challenge currently, with ED's instancing, often just be being able to see the others in the private group or in open play.

Looking forward flying with you guys - see you around, commanders! o7

Welcome to Mobius, commander max2go.

It sounds like you've got quite the gaming rig there. <jealous> :)

Feel free to add your name to the In game friend list thread and check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders. Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

Greetings CMDR max2go and welcome to Mobius!

That's a sweet rig, looks awesome.
Like yourself I spent a bit of time in EVE, thankfully only a few months, before seeking out better space-sim experiences.
Played the X3 series too, but Elite: Dangerous is the ultimate space-sim as far as I'm concerned.

Mobius's home base is in Azreal if you are nearby, lots of CMDR's there.
I'm based in EU, but I've added you to steam & in-game so see you out there.

Thanks guys - I've already been on TS and actually met a guy yesterday who I've known from EVE (who told me that in the coming months a lot more will switch to ED)!

I agree about X3, IMO it's a SP version of EVE, at least that's the best comparison I came up with. I still get into it occasionally.

There are a few main things ED is missing right now, at least for me to make it a whole to more enjoyable and interesting (I'll then spend almost as much time in ED as I used to in EVE, which was in average approx 13h every single day, sometimes staying up until early morning hours, to help out friends in need):

* capturing of vessels. I'd say very similar to the way X3 - disabling of engines and weapons, leaving own ship (or have someone with you in your ship or separate ship to do that for you) and cutting open the cargo bay and then fighting inside the ship any resistance, then hacking the ship computer to take it over.

* support repping in combat. Remote shield strengtheners and hull repairers (as ED doesn't have a separate stat for armor as EVE does, but I'm fine with that, just needs to take longer and maybe use different kind of resources depending on

* more variety in systems, such as various versions of computer programs, the higher the version the more expensive, that would give different ship stat boosts such as shield recharge time and such.

* manufacturing and transport of all the commodities but also ship equipment and even ships themselves (once large freighters are released).

* and when it comes to mining, virtual bookmarks are missing that would help keeping track of which asteroids you have been or want to go to, for maximum efficiency.

These are the main things I really look forward to and that'll make me be in Elite more, but I see their progress, I'm really excited with all the new things Frontier has put in since the beginning of this year, and the upcoming things:

* virtual character creator / editor with both female and male characters - I think a lot of people, such as my GF who is a gamer, would perhaps get into EVE when that's in there;

* landing on planets, riding around and putting down manufacturing facilities;

* multiple-crew in ships, walking around in them and even flying huge ships such as carriers and transporters;

* walking around in space stations and interacting with others there "in person"... would be cool to be able to set up your own shop and visit those of other commanders, instead of just using the trade interface in the ship - perhaps that way being able to do some bargaining, shadowy deals and what-not;

I had problems with "instancing" AKA getting people either in open play or in private group to form a wing with - I really hope that they can fix that soon, but I'll search around a bit and maybe there's something I can do on my end (I read somewhere something about opening ports on the router).
