CMDR Mal Corvus. Docking Requested.

Hi guys & girls,

Just a quick note to say hi and give a bit of info about myself.

40 something dad from Sydney, Australia. Elite, Privateer, Freelancer and X3 are all games I played well beyond their time. I also spent many years in Eve doing PvP/RP (Ushra'Khan).

I play all modes of the game. Solo when I'm on the Steam box in the lounge room with an XBox controller because I don't have a headset and I'm just chilling. Open when I am in some form of combat capable ship. When I want to be social but not checking my scanners all the time, well that's where Mobius fits in.

I picked up ED at Christmas. I'm based in the Empire currently focused on Powerplay in the service of Emperor Arissa. Once I have a bit of a nest egg and a stable of ships I'll be heading back out exploring (did a three day trip to the Orion Nebula and back in my first week). Then who knows what. Background simulation, community events, more Powerplay, the sky is the limit. I bounty hunt, run missions, run cargo and even did some mining for an afternoon. I also play a bit of CQC when I'm out exploring.

I am intrigued by the idea of flying as a convoy escort in Open. Even doing some PvP bounty hunting but currently I find many of the mechanics lacking (unreliable instancing, over zealous criminal flagging, small bounties on players and of course the lack of logout timer when someone kills their client side process to avoid justice).

Looking forward to seeing folks in game. Fly safe.

Greetings and welcome to Mobius, Commander Mal Corvus

Please feel free to add your name to the In game friends list thread, and check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders.

Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

On top of all of that, we also have a Facebook group and Twitter feed.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.

Finally, if you are interested in being involved, go here to see information about our player group faction, the Order of Mobius (based at Rafferty's Mobius station in the Azrael system). We have our own Discord (voice and text chat) servers for supporters of Mobius, as well as our own Order of Mobius Twitter feed.

Another Sydney sider - welcome! If I'm not mistaken, I think I saw you in Aussie Commanders a year ago.

We have several Aussies who come online at around 9:00 to 11:00 in the evenings (Sydney time) to fight the war in Exioce. Feel free to bring your combat ship of choice and join us!

Thanks for the welcomes. I have training tonight but I'll get lists / Teamspeak sorted sometime between here and the weekend.

That wasn't me in Aussie Commanders. I only noticed Elite a few weeks ago (it's been a busy couple of years). If I had seen it sooner I'd have joined the kickstarter :D.

I could bring my ASP Explorer gunboat to the fight but I have been itching to fly my Imperial Eagle again and unleash my inner Poe Dameron. With a ship name like Ascalon I'm guessing you play Guild Wars, I'm in Balthazar's Army on the Fort Aspenwood server.

^^ Give this guy a prize for using his observation skills to win new friends. :)

I actually haven't played Guild Wars before. Ascalon was the spear used by St George to slay the dragon, so I thought it was a fitting name for a Fer de Lance (translated: iron of spear, or spearhead) sporting red and white livery (colours associated with St George). Besides, I'm a bit of a fan of medieval knights, as some people would know. ;)

:D

Nice, I do Medieval Reenactments. The training I mentioned was 16th century Italian rapier fighting in the style of Nicoletto Giganti. Although my pet project this year is making my own copy of I.33 with translation while putting it into practice.

I jumped on late tonight and saw the war The Order of Mobius were fighting in Exioce has come to an end. I'll keep an eye out for the next one. Are there any guidelines around conflict zones regarding kill stealing? Not sure how bounty credit works in this game yet. If two of us shoot up the same target do we all get rewarded?
