Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hi all, Cmdr Tolbek here. My real name's Dave and at 52 I guess I can now be classed as one of the 'old-timers' when it comes to gaming! I've been gaming all my life starting out with consoles and then becoming hooked on MUD on the Compunet network. I inevitably progressed to PCs and have played games in all genres throughout the years, mainly mmorpgs of late due to them being well-suited to xbox 360 controller pad usage - I have painful peripheral neuropathy in my hands which can be aggravated by lots of mouse clicking - but discovered Elite a couple of months ago. I played the original loads on the C64.

Initially I mainly traded and bounty hunted to get some funds together but am currently in Explorer mode with the Distant Worlds Expedition. I'm actually a few days behind the main group due to having to return back to civilisation to replace my srv; after my first landing I rather foolishly started tinkering around with the controller settings when I was low on fuel. I don't know what I did exactly, but my srv turned on it's side and when I managed to right it the thrusters seemed to be firing non-stop! What little fuel I had quickly disappeared with my ship just tantalisingly a few metres away....

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being part of the Mobius community and anybody reading this feel free to add me to your friends list.

You and I are almost the same age (53 here) and I've been gaming since the early days as well (Pong anyone?).

Glad you're enjoying your exploration trip, now that you have the SRV sorted out.

Ah yes, Pong! I guess that's where videogaming began for many of us from our generation. It must have been about forty years now since I first played it....wow! I wonder where videogames will be in another forty?
