CMDR. SWEETSAPRIK

Hey, newb here. Just got the game a few weeks ago, have about a week and three days in game. Played almost all of that in solo before (while searching frontier forums and other sources for trade/weapon/equipment/etc. info) coming across stuff about "griefers invading" your group or whatever. Which led me to looking a bit more into Mobius. Which led to me joining.

I started with some rare trading in a cobra mkIII over in fed space, basically from Eleu/Helvetitj to Witchhaul/Momus Reach and back, since there are like 12 stops for rares along that route. Which tbh I still consider my "home area." Tried out some mining (T6 with two mining lasers and no weapons :p.) Grabbed a DBX to check out Merope/Maia (Barnacle/blackhole.) Which is about when I joined.

I joined MOBIUS PVE and didn't see anyone. Looked around and noticed many of you are in Empire space. Schlepped my way to Azrael to deliver some exploration data I grabbed (tried the detailed surface scanner for the first time along the way.) Only saw one person so far, so I joined the other group. Same deal, saw one person. So far I'm honestly not sure if it's my hours (which are irregular to say the least), which group I should be in because of those hours, the area of space I'm in most often, or just that fact that space has so much, well, space.

I know there is an issue, which is why there are two groups, if it's okay I'd like to alternate between the two for a few days just to see if one is more obviously the one I should be in. If not, I don't know which one I should leave/stay in. My best guess though, would be the one that doesn't cover the area/timezone I live in (eastern US), since again, irregular hours.

I've seen the boilerplate "new member post" a few times, so I'm following on Twitter (group and player faction accounts), I joined the discord chat (for text though, since I have issues using a mic which is just one reason why I probably won't be on TS), I checked out the player faction, which is what actually led me to checking out Azrael/Rafferty's Mobius, and I'm about to post in the friends list topic.

Anyway, currently sold off everything aside from my cobra mkIII (which I love) and an Asp Explorer (which I really can't afford to fly right now because of it being fully decked out and me not being able to cover the 1.7 mil insurance cost if I screw up.) Just recently realized how much hunting Anacondas and Pythons in an RES can be worth, so I'm currently hanging around an RES in Tollan (in the MOBIUS group) in my mkIII for the Fed bounty bonus on top. Taking a break from that only when it gets monotonous.

Hope to see some of you in game. :)

TL;DR version:

Sup.

There might be 20k members but space is big blabla bla. Insert empty excuse for you not meeting people.

That said most here are euro centric mature players with kids, wife's and jobs so it can get really slow in the middle of the week.

I would recommend getting a mic if at all possible it can quite seriously be the difference between meeting random people in game and making friends.
It doesn't have to be an expensive one either even the basic cheap ones will do.

It also opens up to getting voice attack to help out with macros and what not.

And ts is great with elite.
I at least I think so since I have both hands on my throttle and stick when I play. If not for ts and a dedicated push to talk I would be rather antisocial in my time playing.

Welcome to Mobius, Commander Sweetsaprik.

I would say that being in the Mobius group may be best for you if you are on during irregual hours for EST. Please select one group or the other in the next few days and then leave the other group. Thanks.

Participating in a CG is a great way to meet commanders, as is having your name on the 'in game friends list' linked below. Interaction with other humans raises the game to a whole new level. :)

I agree with TT that a mic makes a HUGE difference when winged up, especially for BH. It's much easier to select targets, make strategic decisions, and shoot the shit when you are using voice comms. I have done plenty of winged BH without a mic, and it's WAY less fun, IMO.

I know that you've already looked over most of this info, but I'm going to throw these links out there just in case... ;)

Please feel free to add your name to the In game friends list thread, and check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders.

Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

On top of all of that, we also have a Facebook group and Twitter feed.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.

Finally, if you are interested in being involved, go here to see information about our player group faction, the Order of Mobius. We have our own Discord (voice and text chat) servers for supporters of Mobius, as well as our own Order of Mobius Twitter feed.
