Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

I've been playing since 1.0's release, all Solo, starting around last July, being an American and totally missing the Kickstarter and knowing nothing that my beloved Elite (largely played II and First Contact on PC) and that Braben et al. had been quite busy. This is very likely due to me being an extremely casual gamer, largely because I have traveled almost 100% for over 10 of the last 15 years, which makes it difficult to lug a workstation (even a 15.6-17.3") with the prerequisite specs.

In fact, I probably download to, and play on, my phone Lave Radio podcasts and Obsidian Ant videos more than I play the game, just because of how much I travel. But I'm not traveling as much currently, hence the re-interest in friending people to play on-line with.

I'm hovering around a total worth of only 45M credits, largely from trading, then mining and, only more recently, exploring, with a few planets discovered by me within 200ly of the Coal Sack (yes, even this late, in 2016 April). My goal is to get enough worth to purchase a Python, probably need a worth around 100M total to outfit it well.

Until then, my primary combat and mining ship is just a simple Vulture, with a single Class 3 Gimbaled Beam Weapon (one is just right for the power plant), and a Class 2 Mining Laser. I find it adequate to just have 32 units for cargo, a 6 bin Refinery and just a single Collector Limpet, which takes me less than a hour to fill with my favorite 4-5 metals. Anyone who screws with me mining gets the C3 Beam and has a bad day.

This is in addition to the obvious need for a well-equipped Asp Explorer for exploration, although I still have 64 units of cargo space in it too.

Living 30 minutes from the beach, when I'm home on the weekends, I also enjoy body boarding regularly. Being in Florida with well over 100" (a good 3m) of rain per year, I have a weather sealed Pentax K-mount system for photography.

I have nothing against Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, and am an avid watcher of Le Mans, including our American Le Mans (although United SportsCar has been disappointing), some of the ADAC (especially with the new Callaway C7 GT3), and even some of the more local series like German GTM and the Aussie V8 Supercars. But being an American with our low-cost, domestic options, I'm your classic, pushrod V8 lover. So we (wife and I of ~20 years) have an 6.2L LT1 in our '16 Camaro SS, along with an older 6.2L LS3 in our (albeit recently sold) '09 Corvette Coupe Z51 and a 5.7L L98 in our '87 Corvette Convertible (more for using in parades, than performance).

Being an American, being a spectator of American football is a common given, although I prefer college, non-Power 5. My Alma Mater is UCF, but I follow a lot of non-P5 teams, from Boise to Navy.

In my professional life, being an Free and Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) "[white hat] hacker" and Subject Matter Expert (SME), I have a lot of interest in Infrastructure (e.g., KVM/oVirt, OpenStack, CloudFoundry, OpenShift, et al.), including SDN/SDS (Software Defined Networking/Storage), as well as Automation (e.g., Cobbler, Foreman, Katello, Puppet, Ansible, et al.).**

Thanx. Yes, I prefer "sports car" -- something close to what I can buy and drive -- instead of either open wheel (Formula 1 or IndyCar) or, my apologies as I hold little interest, NASCAR. Nothing against the drivers -- far from it! -- it's tough to keep those cars hugging the curves, with so little tire and so much weight, as even sports car legend Ron Fellows (who often drove Danica Patrick's car for the NASCAR road courses), but I just prefer the curve hugging sports cars.

Yeah, I was just going to log on to Open Play and head over to see if I could find anyone. As I mentioned, I've spent most of my time in and around Delkar, between the Federation and Empire.

Yep, been through some of those, but still reading. Speaking of which, couple of Q's I still haven't found answers to yet (but still going through the tips) ...
