CMDR TheBS (YAMAA)

Greetings Commanders! Yet Another Middle Aged American (YAMAA) here! I'll try to keep it straight-forward, A-B-C, and then leave other commentary folded under 'Spoilers' if you really want to read more.

A) Callsign ...

My call-sign is straight-forward, "BS" are my initials IRL, and often referred to by my colleagues given how much I love to talk, often of useless information and trivia. Given it is so short, I've increased it to "TheBS" to fit most character requirements.**

B) Purpose ...

I'm looking for fellow CMDRs in largely the southeastern US (although I'm open to anywhere too), especially those like me who are only extremely casual gamers. I have avoided Open Play, and want to stick with friends only. A colleague at my new client turned me on to this PvE group.

C) Hangout ...

When I'm not exploring, of which I've only just started doing, I tend to hang out in the still prestine Delkar system (e.g., metallic rings of Delkar 7) and either mine myself or kill raiders (of my fellow miners).

I'm kinda getting bored of the Delkar system, and might be moving to another, prestine system with a metallic ring (or two) in the near future. Feel free to suggest an area with lots of fellow Mobius members.

**P.S. If you've been around Free and Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS), I also go by "bjs"(e.g., @redhat.com, @hp.com) over the years, as those select clients/employers of mine would not allow me to use just "BS" or "TheBS" for obvious, professional reasons.

Welcome to Mobius, Commander TheBS. (Catchy alias, BTW) ;)

When you talked about racing, and then America, I expected you to then lead into NASCAR... which is my favorite sport. You went a different direction, but it's okay and you can still be a part of Mobius. :)

If you are interested in trying a different location and bumping into some other humans, a lot of Mobius commanders hang around our home system of Azrael in Empire space.

Please feel free to add your name to the In game friends list thread, and check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders.

Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

On top of all of that, we also have a Facebook group and Twitter feed.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.

Finally, if you are interested in being involved, go here to see information about our player group faction, the Order of Mobius. We have our own Discord (voice and text chat) servers for supporters of Mobius, as well as our own Order of Mobius Twitter feed.

Thanx. Most people IRL just refer to me as "BS" (or "bjs" professionally).

So, Q:
Inside the game, do people use the Voice chat server? Or do they just use the one in Elite?
Sorry for my total ignorance, being in Solo Play for so long, other than ensuring my mic works, I assume people use the voice inside the game when playing? Or do they use the Discord server?

Thanx again!

Several players use TeamSpeak for chit chat, mostly in the "Riff-Raff" channel. Also, TS is used for winged activities in-game and has several channels setup for specific wings such as exploration, trade, combat, etc. There are also channels for factions and special events. Feel free to log into TS and poke around. :)

Some guys prefer not to use voice comms at all in-game. Some like the in-game voice comms with it's "realistic" radio static and background noises, and some prefer the clear and clean transmission that TS offers.

Personally, I don't use Discord so I can't speak to that. I do know that some group members use it quite a bit.

I hope that helps.
