I'm CMDR SparklyBazongaz, soon to be 22 in a few days whee! I'm a disabled university student with a good bit of down time after studying from home. Had my eye on ED for a long time and finally built myself a gaming PC, bought a cheap joystick and haven't looked back since.
Had a few experiences in open when I started a few months ago, ended up getting obliterated while trying to mine in my sidewinder at the time and even once I got myself a decent combat ship I just couldn't avoid getting targeted. All fun and games but it got to a point where it was just impossible to get out of the starting system and sucked hardcore for a bit, so I spend most of my time in Solo.
PvE is a lot more fun with friends. Gave it a go winging up with some mates a few weeks ago, helped them do some bounty hunting runs and found it was much more enjoyable to chill in a private group and do missions without getting blown to bits when I least expected it.
I went from a dinky sidewinder for months to getting enough bounties for an Eagle Mk II, flopped about to Carthage for that CG a little bit ago and got enough bounties to get a Type-6, upgraded fully for rare trades and spent a few days getting a few million. Then the CG reward came in and I was able to get an Asp Explorer, now for the most part almost fully upgraded and still doing some trades. Still kicking myself for not getting in on CG's sooner. I have 82 hours under my belt now and feel like it took me most of them just to get the hang of how things work.
End goal is of course getting a 'Conda one day, but for now just enjoying it and having fun. I hear there's plenty of people out Jaques way and heading towards the core so might see some people out there to wing up with once I get there. Leaving for Jaques Station sometime this week, might try to deliver a few hundred more tons of gold for the CG before I go though.
Usually play around 12pm AEST and for a good few hours, if I'm able to I jump on in the evening before my fatigue kicks in too bad. Looking forward to making new friends
