Greetings everyone,
CMDR Radazure reporting in. I am a first time CMDR in Elite: Dangerous, and I cannot wait to learn more about Elite, as it looks like the kind of game I've always wanted to play (but never had the chance to before). I was informed that the Mobius group is the place to be, especially when starting out with the game. I am looking forward to interacting with all of you, and hopefully when I gain some experience, some of you will be willing to fly with me.
A little about me:
I have always been a big fan of Sci-Fi, though perhaps the most influential media that got me interested in the first place would be the Firefly TV series, the Hyperion Cantos books, and Space Engine. I've always wanted to get into a ship and take to the skies, explore space, and fly across amazing cosmic landscapes, and it looks like this game will help me experience all that.
Prior to this game, I played No Man's Sky quite a bit (almost 100 hours) and while it is not my intention to speak ill of NMS, I just have to say that, for me personally, the training missions alone in Elite: Dangerous have already proven to be more fun and immersive. I realize that NMS is a different kind of game with an arcadey feel and focus on exploration, but it did not satisfy my thirst for a deeper experience in space sims. I spent about an hour remapping the controls to my liking, and I love how the ships feel like they have... substance. I actually feel like I am maneuvering a vehicle of substantial mass. If you guys have any tips to help a newbie out (things that might not be so apparent in the training videos and missions), I'm all ears and eyes.
That being said, I'm very looking forward to this game!
Cheers.
