Hello All,
Commander Wojack here. I submitted a request to join last night (I should probably drop a few credits into the "CMDR Mobius Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatment Fund" donation jar).
I was a little late to the Information Age party. I didn't get my first computer until 1998, so I completely missed all the original Elite games. I fell in love with online gaming about 15 minutes after my first connection to the internet. I started with Starsiege: Tribes, moved to EverQuest a month or two after they launched, and have been playing MMORPGs (and a few other online games) ever since.
I started playing Elite: Dangerous toward the end of Beta. I originally heard of the game when it was mentioned on the MMO Reporter podcast by Harry Hol, but kind of dismissed it as an "also ran" in a field that seemed like it was being dominated by Star Citizen. Then I saw a gameplay video posted by the Mighty Jingles and the rest, as they say, is history.
As far as why I chose PvE over PvP:
Thus far, I have not yet ventured out of solo play. Honestly, I've found the solo game very compelling, and the solitude seemed to fit from an immersion standpoint. But I am looking forward to logging in (US eastern time - evenings) and actually meeting some other commanders (that don't want to - or at least have agreed not to - murder me
).

- -I really suck at PvP
-I lack the time or inclination to improve my skills to the point where I would feel ready to "take on all comers"
-I just prefer a friendly, cooperative environment
