So have fitted out Aurora Stargazer, my Anaconda, and will soon start on a mission to get as far out of the galaxy as possible. With the ability to land and scavenge for materials, add well as the FSD boost, I just wanted to see what lays beyond the rim.

I will be departing Rafferty's at the weekend, maybe Friday, stopping of at Betelgeuse (want to land on Betelgeuse 2/3) before going off to the edge.

Hopefully be a couple of months journey. And hopefully I won't get stuck lol

Good luck on your journey! Don't forget your camera for the photographs and a bunch of music! Cause sometimes it gets a bit lonely out there. :-)

And don't forget your towel either. You know what happens if you forget your towel?

A towel, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.

Just about the most massively useful thing any interstellar Hitchhiker can carry. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mind-bogglingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you — daft as a brush, but very very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course you can dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: nonhitchhiker) discovers that a hitchhiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, washcloth, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet-weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitchhiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitchhiker might accidentally have "lost." What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still knows where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Hence a phrase which has passed into hitch hiking slang, as in "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is."

Please beware, that there is a glitch, affecting some of us explorers (including me; currently 20 kly from Sol).

Previously scanned system bodies are after relog blacked out in system map, they are missing in left hand panel list, also not visible on radar, in normal view marked as "unexplored" with no possibility of rescan. Hope that this bug will not affect you.

Fly safe CMDR.

I can confirm this. I'm sitting 16KLY from Sol on my return journey from Sag A* and wondering now if any scans since the 1.5 launch has been registered :? Might be best to wait until after the next patch before you head out. In any case, good luck..
