Well, his setup isn't great. Instead of a class 5 scoop that refuels at 35O or so per second, you can get a class 6 that will go up to nearly 880 per second. And a class 5 shield generator is quite enough when you don't plan to spend time fighting.

Oh, I ended up with something that will do the job I think ;)

I did get the biggest scoop I could find, only takes seconds to refuel, cost about the same as the ship I think.

I'm just over 1,000 lights out already, having stayed up 'til after 3.30am. VERY glad I fitted a couple of heatsink launchers, have to say!

(There are some things that no amount of video-watching can prepare you for :( )

Nothing too exciting so far, but there is a small black hole with my name on it now :D

Later on, when I climb into the cockpit again, I'll update Inara & Coriolis, and post my build.

My only downer is that I didn't find the scanners I really wanted, so I'm stuck with (I think) a C1 ADS & C2 DSS - I wanted A3 for both. Maybe next trip? What I have seems to work well enough for a maiden voyage, though.

I'll probably give our TS a whirl later on, for voice comms. I'm not one for keyboarding during flight.

OK, here's the build:-

I know it's not 'perfect' but hey - for a first effort?

Hey I did a Hauler for exploration - very cheap to kit it out and as good LY range then an asp fully equiped. short range 2 to 3 thousands light years (remember the trip back so 6k :D) is fine. But asp if you have the money go for it great ship for this its the best really.

The only thing i wish i knew about filtering star types on the galaxy map to ensure i didnt end up on the briar patches unable to scoop - RATSIGNAL!!! fuelrats is your friends :)

As far as I am concerned barely good enough = perfect :)
As for advanced scanners I keep finding them all over the place, sure there are places don't have them but I have even docked on an outpost in an unknown systen and bought one, honked, docked and sold it back :P

I might come off as even more of a tool but I figured out myself what star types was scoopable or not through trial and error.
This was in 1.2 as well so there was lo extra fuel tanks or limpets. Inow lost at least 4 vipers getting that knowledge
No more to say on that but F.O.G.K.B.A.M.

That was the other one but for me "FOGKBAM" reminds me of all the vipers I selfdestructed so it stuck :P
