One picks a ship for it's specification, and the big daddies are just nice targets to smaller ships.
Sure, they pack a punch, but if you're somewhat handy, they can hardly land a shot on you.
You can buy a Big Daddy, but to what end, if it is for combat's sake?
They simply are too sluggish, and that's a suicide statistic.

But, to each his own, it's just my two cents.
Fact though is: most will pick the Vulture to do H(az)RES or CZ, I noticed.
Both in game as on the forum.
Seeing this, makes me wonder if the Vulture would NOT be the right choice?

I noticed the ships' load out don't have ballistic weapon for armour in CZ. Are you omitting ballistic weapon so you don't have to refill ammunition at a station?

I fixed TorTorden's quote that you abbreviated the daylights out of because to me it almost seemed like you had done so not because it was necessary, but because you needed to do so to fit your argument. The way I interpreted his post was to say that he was getting the Corvette to replace his Anaconda because at the moment he flies one of his other ships and leaves the Anaconda parked. I.E. He will be using his Corvette for combat as soon as he get it instead of his Vulture, FDL, or Python, but i could be wrong.

On another note I don't know of anyone that has assets over 500 million that pilots a Vulture. Pre 1.5 I remember a combat fitted Python being vastly superior and since 1.5 the FAS and FDL are both better, but in different ways. As you say, to each there own.

I have over 400 Million, and still regularly take a Vulture out to RES.
Much more than my combat fitted Python.
Mostly because I enjoy the maneuverability and dogfight. :)

Well 400 < 500 so you are not exactly proving me wrong here :D
That being said I am surprised you have not upgraded to a fitted FDL or FAS. The vulture is nice but considering 50% of the enemies in RES just stop and spin I usually just want them dead asap. Now if we are talking a CZ, Military Strike, or the like them having a small ship that is low on the priorities list like a vulture is nice.

Absolutely Sir, that did not escape my attention.
(current net worth 430m - watch this space. ;) )

Don't get me wrong, absolutely love my Python and Conda.
But there will never be dust on my AspEx or Vulture.
:)

The RES spin of death is a bit of a drag, but that is a relatively recent phenomena.
The AI is definitely more challenging than it was this time last year.

I'll be increasing my Imperial Rank and by-passing the Vette for the Cutter.
Then using that enormous cargo hold to make phat stacks and start on my Federal ladder climb.

Until then I'll just have to read threads like this and drool over that smexy stream-line Vette. *Corrr...

I hated fighting in my Anaconda, and very quickly abandoned it in favour of my Vulture.

I recently sold that parked Conda in favour of a new Vette, and the difference is striking, I actually enjoy combat in it. Now admittedly I'm comparing 500mil worth of Vette to 250mil worth of Conda, so it's not an equal comparison, but I never felt the Conda warranted spending money on, while the Vette is worth it.

I'm currently running Beams in the L/M/S slots (which I'm thinking of dropping to pulse or burst, because of the heat issues with the beams) and 2 huge gimballed cannons. I struggled with the canons at first, but I've stuck with them and adapted, it's really satisfying when you manage to use them effectively and take out a huge chunk (50%+) of hull in just 2-3 hits.

Is it better than my Vulture? I'd say it's on par, but a very different play experience - The Vulture is probably a more efficient killer but so much riskier - in a CZ a few ships agroing at once can easily spell your doom, but my Vette is such a beastly tank that I don't even worry too much if I lose my shields, I just finish killing my target(s) and then evaluate whether I need to repair, or just keep going :) I think I also prefer the 'in your face' style of Vette fighting, compared to the 'buzzing round your ass' Vulture style :)
