I hated fighting in my Anaconda, and very quickly abandoned it in favour of my Vulture.
I recently sold that parked Conda in favour of a new Vette, and the difference is striking, I actually enjoy combat in it. Now admittedly I'm comparing 500mil worth of Vette to 250mil worth of Conda, so it's not an equal comparison, but I never felt the Conda warranted spending money on, while the Vette is worth it.
I'm currently running Beams in the L/M/S slots (which I'm thinking of dropping to pulse or burst, because of the heat issues with the beams) and 2 huge gimballed cannons. I struggled with the canons at first, but I've stuck with them and adapted, it's really satisfying when you manage to use them effectively and take out a huge chunk (50%+) of hull in just 2-3 hits.
Is it better than my Vulture? I'd say it's on par, but a very different play experience - The Vulture is probably a more efficient killer but so much riskier - in a CZ a few ships agroing at once can easily spell your doom, but my Vette is such a beastly tank that I don't even worry too much if I lose my shields, I just finish killing my target(s) and then evaluate whether I need to repair, or just keep going

I think I also prefer the 'in your face' style of Vette fighting, compared to the 'buzzing round your ass' Vulture style
