Sorry I missed your post, but smuggling and the boost received a double nerf so now it makes less than a good normal trade route. It seems that it was making a lot more than the devs intended even though there was a huge risk with it.

After the first nerf in my T-9 I was making 4k/t ish one way three jumps for 2 million in profit. After the second nerf I was making 1.3-1.6 million with the chance of a 2 million credit fine.

It is just not worth it to smuggle because the fine now outweighs the potential profit. When they were the same it was worth the risk but now it is just stupid because they took extreme action to steam the flow of credits.

Yep found that out last night I went to 34 Pegasi with some battle weapons to test it out. The strange thing they were listed along with a whole load of banned items on the normal commodities market not in the black market at all. Guess it has to do with the pirate faction control area. Made more profit dealing in superconductors. If it was harder to transport banned items and made them more profitable I would be happy. But it was so easy, not once was I scanned. I loved the rush of getting into a station with naughty gear in my hold. :) But it's a let down now. Makes ED just a trading game and not the open world game it was supposed to be.

There were whispers today that the fdevs, who went crazy with the nerfs, are again looking at making smuggling profitable.

It will probably come back soonish but I guess one of the major issues at Power Play release other than the stacking 10% reduction in the price of Imperial slaves and 25% boost in profit selling to black markets was that black markets had a fixed demand level. This meant that any number of people could sell an unlimited amount of something to a station for the same guaranteed profit. The other problem is that fines if unpaid become bounties. I racked up over ten million in fines at a single station but the rules of the game say the max bounty a single minor faction can give is 1 million. If this is overwrite by Power Play we will see people go back to farming their friends bounties again.

Seeing as how all of the elite economy is based around supply and demand this was not intentional at all. Trade routes that make major money are made to burn away with time and with smuggling that was not happening. I for one can tell you at one point I was making 20-30 million an hour in a T-9.

Hear is hoping they come to a decision on how to fix all this and we get the rush of trying to fit a t-9 loaded with slaves through the mail slot at full speed again.
