I'll have them on larger ships with power to spare, and sometimes use them, but I don't bother on smaller ships. I mostly just use them to recharge the shields faster so I don't have to wait around for 5 minutes, but they can sometimes get you out of a jam when you do something stupid.
It's time to give this another go.

Never used them. I prefer to make do with what I've got and adjust my flying/fighting style to match. Which means picking my targets carefully and ensuring that I'm in the most advantageous position before I attack my target. I made it to Elite so I can't have done too badly.

I'd die if I fire them anyways. So none of those is probably safer for me.

They do NOT charge empty shields, they charge up your shields if they are low, but it takes a few moments for them t charge when you activate one

In my Cutter I can wait 10 minutes for my shields to recharge or fire a SCB. Easy choice. :-)

Yeah I know but I tried it a few times and always miss the moment.

Then my heat goes up to 300% and I explode(because I'm still firing my weapons :P)

Same here! I have a single SCB bank in my combat Python, that along with the a heat sink launcher to help with heat (slightly annoyed that HSL's are being nerffed due to the silent running brigade :()

I swap out a Class 6 Cargo (64t) for a Class 6A Shield Cell Bank in my Python when I'm not Mining or Trading. It's so worth it. I just make sure I have 1:1 Heat Sinks when I do, usually dropping a Shield Booster to make way for the Sinks, and added Power requirements of the Cell Bank.

[Config 103M] Sub-class, A-spec Python - sub-class meaning -1 size class on Power/Thruster/Distributor (min weight, max jump)

I have limited funds, worth barely 110M and just finally made "Expert," without grinding at all. I try to stick with this "all-in-one" configuration that is 200t cargo at any time, whether trading, mining, exploring or fighting, as I don't like to seek and change out components. I'll trade out two (2) of the Class 6 components for Cell Banks, Hangers, Scoops, Shields, etc... as desired. And yes, I know, it's only Class 5A Shields, not 6A, but I don't seek fights, just take them as they come.

Never used them and tbh never really felt the need. Don't do any pvp where they are probably more useful. There's always the boost button if you get in the do do with a wing of npc's :)
