Nope, no mistake.

The CG only reached 4/8 (it's almost like they had given players something else to do at the same time, cough, beta, cough, and possibly forget to actually properly tell anyone about it :x ) so just huge gimbaled pulse and burst (or multi if they can't fix the issues with burst) will be available at launch. The rest will come "later" by other means.

All the fixed versions (except possibly burst) will be available of course.

Sending Jaques on his way and helping engineer Palin build his base, as well as beta and helping both OoM and the Canonn factions over the last 2 weeks was a mistake it seems.

I have seen some poor comms before (Godlike powers *cough*) but this is up there with the other WTF? Surely not level of comms.

This was more than poor comms. During the first week, this CG was running at the same time as 2.1 and the Jaques/Fuel Rats CG. When the CG was clearly struggling, FDev extended it for a second week, but launched three additional CGs at the same time. Two were also trade CGs (the explorer party CG and the Palin base building one), the third was a bounty-hunting CG.

Both other trade CGs had better profits, especially during the first 30 hours of the extension were FD forgot to also extend the price-fixing, and there was no source in the universe that allowed selling tantalum at a profit. You could still make some profit on the back-haul, but during that time, both other trade CGs were paying ten times as much. I was in-game during that time hauling tantalum, and there were a lot of in-game messages from frustrated players switching over because of this additional screw-up. Once the prices finally got fixed, the other trade CGs were still giving twice the profit.

The information about the link between the CG and the link to availability of the huge gimballed weapons was only made really public two days before the CG ended. At that time, the CG had finally made it to tier 4 with about 6 million tons delivered. To unlock the next weapon, another 6 million tons were needed. In two days, when the first 6 million tons took 12 days to collect. This was far too late to change things, especially since quite a few people switched CGs after tier 4 was reached because tiers 5 and higher were clearly out of reach.

I'll stop here before I ship even more tantrum than I shipped tantalum.

I didn't even bother with the CGs in the last couple of weeks because I was focused on getting (now upgrading) my Cutter. Their wording was ambiguous at best, and there's a huge shitstorm on Reddit now. If they had made it clearer, we would have finished this thing in days like every other time the community actually wants to get CGs done.

I didn't know about the CG or its (unknown) purpose because I've been too busy testing the new gimballed huge weapons in the 2.1 beta ready for when it goes live. :?

Just a heads up on the huge weapons - the CG results will apply to Wyrd. The huge weapons will all be available elsewhere upon 2.1's release. Note that the huge burst laser will coming in a post release update.

Or it's just dreadful communication from start to finish.
It's always been the case that CG's has only had a rather localized effect (some argue they are mislabelled) so suddenly having one that would seemingly affect all of us is plumb weird.

Seriously the community "reps" need to freaking start having morning coffe together or something. Or they should all be sacked and find someone able to write and maintain a goal\event log or something.
