I meant whether there are actually spots where you can gain both merits and bounty vouchers by destroying the same ships (like in a CG where you are asked to bounty hunt and get CG progression and payout and collect the bounties), or whether merit-giving ships normally offer no bounties. Considering wear and tear costs, merit-only hunting seems to be a bit of a luxury.

By the way, do CGs still pay out (mostly) well like before?

That I do not know, and didn't try. I was in a system last night owned by another power but felt going to a RES may be a mistake given that the security forces would be showing up. The killing for merits will gain you a bounty so it would make it difficult to stick in a RES. The only possible way is if you went to an expansion system for your side that also had a RES, in that case you could go to RES for money, and kill in the military strike zone for merits. The military strike is 1 merit per kill, regardless of ship type and no bounty (pretty much a renamed CZ).

That said, my ignorance may be showing here... while I don't know of any way to do both it may be possible. I only just figured out some stuff in PP last night.

Last night in the Fusang system (med sec) I had some really good luck. First attempt at a high intensity RES was nothing but dangerous and deadly small ships, while not what I was looking for I still stayed for a while since it was fun fighting these ships. Reset after 30 min to see if I could get big ships to spawn, and boy did I. Next spawn was nothing but clippers, dropships, pythons, and vultures, all were harmless or close so they were pushovers (much easier to kill than a deadly viper) but there were at times 5 or 6 big ships all spawned at the same time. Made about 2 million in about 1 1/2 hours though it could have easily been more. Spawns definitely work differently now, periods of low activity followed by huge waves of ships to fend off.

I honestly think this makes a lot of sense, from a gaming perspective. Mining should be better in high-res, but runs risk, and a miner would benefit from playing with others, even if just sticking close to player BH so they can mine. They need stuff like this to encourage team play and multiplayer, I feel like the game focuses too heavily on solo play, making sure everything can be done by a single player... if they are going to have multiplayer they should make content that encourages it.

Both instances were fun, was a nice change from the garbage I've been getting. No idea if it was just luck or the changes but if this is what they're supposed to be like then I'm looking forward to them working correctly as it's going to be much better than before. I don't need anaconda's to spawn, though if they would I wouldn't mind... as long as it's fun and makes me a decent amount of money I'm happy.

That's awesome news, stummies! Sounds like you could have used a wingman. ;) I'll be back in Fusang this weekend in my new Python. Hopefully I'll get similar results. :)

I think there was something said about how the higher intensity RES sites were more risk and would be more reward. But I do still think there is a lot of luck of the draw involved.

Basically, it sets up a way for you to easily see from the logs what kind of instance you've gotten, easier than waiting to see what spawns. Doesn't mess with the game at all, just an easy way to pull specific info from a log. Going to try this out tonight to remove some of the guess work involved.
