I have been nipping away at the same thing.... but 23% to go. What did you find to be the quickest route to Elite? CNB, CZ, specific RES with high level NPC's? Large wings would help for sure, but it seems that when I have the bug to work on my rank nobody is in the area.

Shoot things. Lotsa Things. ALL the things. Don't have to be in a place, grab an interdictor and shoot them. Don't worry about the credits or KWS. JUST SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE!

After my "Visited systems" counter hit 6100 (almost 3000 on this trip alone), I decided to slowly turn back and start jumping towards the bubble. I'm still 15k lys out, but if this run doesn't bring me the Elite rank in exploration - i'm gonna pancake my asp into the nearest star and never fly one again - ever

Did a lil sightseeing trip to California Nebula, NGC 1333, and Orion Nebula... Now trucking a bit with Cutter (still about 50% to go to reach Elite trader rank)...

I think I'll jump into the next combat CG with both feet and wing up with lots and lots of great Mobius players. More kills=more rank.

For me the quickest was at the CNB that you pointed out to me at Coastakal. The most profitable was the Haz Res at Ling Deti. So I mixed the two. I've given up on CZs. The ships are a pain to take down, you earn less, and in my experience you come across less high ranking ships.
BTW, Ling Deti has a planetary base next to the Haz Res for you to land your Corvette.

I made it. Returning from my never completed DW trip. As a consolation, at least I got the Great Annihilator and Sgr A*.At first I thought my game was bugged (again) since I passed a handful of in-bubble systems before reaching my first destination, a High-Tech Imperial system, and made no NPC contact whatsoever.

After refitting to a more combat ready setup, my firstNPC encounter was a m....f.....ing Dangerous Anaconda (probably the same that killed me last time ). At first I considered taking him out, and I almost did so, since I stripped his shields easily and took him down to 38% hull. But, one mistimed SCB meant loosing my shields and immediately after, he started firing accurate (as always) plasma shots. I went from 100% to 63% hull in a matter of 5 seconds (WTF???) and since I had reached my secondary destination, a Federation system to data-sell, I had no targetted system to high-jump. Of course, he had to interdict me 20ls away from the station...

Lost another 20% hull while setting up high jumping...

I sold my data to the Federation and on I went to Mahon's territory. I boosted my Alliance standing to Allied.

I didn't make Elite. Last transaction pipped the progress bar at 65% Pioneer if I remember correctly with value of sold data at 125 million and visited systems just shy of 6.000. My most valuable page of data sold was 1.4 million.

Elite ranking will come eventually, I don't mind especially. The only thing that bothers me slightly is that I will not have access to Shinarta Dezdra (I don have a bloody clue how it's spelled) yet, but even that is not that important.

Thanks Falcon. It sounds like I've been working the same route that you took to Elite.

Ling Deti has been a long time favorite system for me, and is GREAT if you have a wingman. It seems like more NPC wings spawn there than most other Haz-RES, IMO. Yesterday there were 3 wings of 3 all buzzing around each other..... hard to determine who was with who.

I'll keep plugging away at the CNB's and Haz-RES's until a combat CG comes around.

Am currently trying to collect on my bounties and running some BB missions while I'm at it.
Tried my first "destroy planetary generator" Mission last night. Managed to complete it but also managed to get Wanted status in the system and a 4200cr bounty on my head.
Going to head to alliance space to cash in 3mil cr worth of bounties, then head back to Azrael to do some trading in order to prepare for my exploration trip.
Still wondering if I should get an Asp, DBX or Conda, for exploring. Flown both the Asp and Conda, and don't really like them. Haven't flown a DBX yet mainly because the ship looks like a locust. Maybe I should follow Tor and do it in an Orca.

The cnb at Aerial is great! Wings up to five, elite condas etc. If I am winged up am getting about one % to elite an hour.
