Was weird day out in the black yesterday, ended up doing my first Fuel Rat rescue. Weirder still, when I got dispatched I found out that the distress location was one jump from me, and I'm about 3000 ly from Sol! That lead me to officially register with the Fuel Rats this morning, I liked the whole process!

I still remain unconvinced by the Random aspect of the Engineers, although I have been exceptionally lucky with the results. My concerns are when I read other CMDR's are having to roll over and over again to get a favourable result. if it is to be the case that we need to roll again, then surely the outcomes would be an improvement and not something even worse..? FD - ALL - maybe a little rethink..?

Just about nobody outside FDev is happy with the random bits, and FDev has stated that they will give an option for more predictable results at the cost of a reputation hit. In other words, you will probably need to grind up again with that engineer. And this is supposed to happen in a 2.1.0.x patch, we do not have to wait for "2.2 - the back seat drivers".

I am quite content to wait for that patch before going for the level 5 upgrades to FSD and thrusters that I am interested in. Gaining rep with the engineers who have this stuff (Farseer, Martuuk, Palin) can be done by selling exploration data. Since I like doing exploration anyway, I have enough data to level my rep back up quickly.

In the meantime, I am doing barnacle tourism.

Well that was odd, running a few missions and got the usual "enemies have been sent after you" message, well the inevitable interdiction comes and it's an Eagle, not sure what rank as it was dead seconds later, next system another interdiction, another Eagle, which again only lasted seconds.

All my previous interdictions in 2.1 have been large Elite ships, I wonder if something has been changed?

I got a few of those this morning as well. Most prior interdictions were Elite Pythons, Condas, or FAS, but two today were low level Eagles. One wasn't even wanted. I had to wait for him to fire on me before I turned him into space dust.

I'm done. Spent another 1hr running around Shinrarta Dezhra looking for polonium. Nothing. Will head back to the other planet suggested on Galnet for one more try, tomorrow. If I still can't find it then screw this thing. It's bad enough that these things are hard to find. Then we have to pray to to RNG gods for a good result.

I've basically given up on the Engineers for the moment, got some upgrades for the Vette which were reasonable, but the search for materials is rather dull. Now concentrating on running missions for the Order (plus any lucrative ones I find in other systems) and enjoying the game much more.

Going to treat Engineers as a 'get there when I get there', currently don't see any particular reason to rush for the mods.

I've found polonium before. I have never found it in as little time as an hour or two.

I haven't done much of anything with the engineers yet. After seeing the frustrations of many players trying to find item X, I'm going to wait on the sidelines for a little while longer.

I've been (like Xebeth) enjoying doing mission for OoM in Cardea and other neighboring systems. I'm finding that some of the outposts (specifically with the pirate flag) are offering some juicy missions.

Got back in game for the first time in 12 days - hard finding motivation. A little rusty in the hi-res, but no serious problems.

I still like hearing the ATC comms, but it's annoying to get scolded for speeding while I'm not, and get praised for a good approach while I'm boosting in.
