D'oh! - I Finally Did It

I've been meaning to ask if anybody has done it and what happens. I'm talking about crashing into the blast shields on landing. I expected the landing gear to be ripped off and the ship to nose dive onto the landing pad, slide across it and blow up. Maybe if I was going faster? I came swooping onto a landing pad I'd landed on a hundred times, got a little low, and caught my gear on the blast shields. All that happened is that I came to an instant stop and got 3% hull damage (I'm still in the Asp w/o shields). I felt a bit lucky that it was only a 5000cr repair bill. Phew!

Anyone ever have a worse experience on landing?

I've also been wondering if anybody's crashed into the laser platforms outside of most outposts?

I think maybe I'll buy a Sidey and do a bunch of stupid stuff and see what happens.

Not so much crashed than simply so badly stuck to them (with Asp, after a bit wonky approach with FA/off) that getting loose required relogin.

I've scraped the blast shields a few times, but my nemesis is that bloody lamppost, I've nearly wrecked on that a few times.

Thanks for info. I was worried that an outpost might open up on me if I hit the laser platform.

I was landing on an outpost. The one where the small pads are right next to column that has the medium pads and trying be fancy I smacked the post. That is in a really bad spot.

I also almost hit those floating things outside outposts all the time.

I love the way they turn you around and point you back at the medium landing pad.

I've managed to come in fast enough to go through shields and 90% of hull and also crack the canopy. Air supply kicked in and I just about managed to get the Cobra parked and repaired. Squeaky bum time!

I was coming into a station and had an NPC come screaming up from below and plowed into me. I nearly blew up (90% hull damage, no shields), I hate NPC's some times. That's the only time I have crashed in the game, came too close to a star a couple times and blew up in my sidewinder early on

I tried a fast entry on a spaceport last night carrying dodgy goods and messed it up completely. I missed the letterbox and bounced off the station - without a scratch. No hits to shields and no damage to hull. Talk about dodging a bullet!

I started trucking last night. Bought a Cobra, stripped its shields and rammed in another pair of cargo racks. Since it is a bigger ship and a lot more clunkier than my fully upgraded Viper my first landing was somewhere similar.

The landing gear was down and it bumped onto that landing thingy with a pointing arrow. The ship nosedived and my BC informed me that the hull integrity was compromised - followed by a loud *thump* metallish noise

Fortunately i was at a crawling speed and took only 30ish % dmg
