Have you recently unplugged a device you USED to have a button mapped for?

I (stupidly) had my wireless Xbox controller mapped to my camera views, as well as my regular HOTAS.
One day, I logged into the game and all my bindings were gone... BUT, after about 2 hours of frustration, I realised my Xbox controller just needed new batteries... and when I restarted ED, all were there again.

This happened to me quite often when I occasionally switched between playing with Hotas or Xbox Controller.
Last time, I accidentally switched the Profile on my xbox elite controller by pressing the profile button and everything was reset again.

Solution for me is creating a backup of the bindings file. If the game or I screw up, I just copy the File to the appropriate folder:

AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

What Saberius said.

I use a controller and when I'm away too long and need to fix the keybindings it just won't show up in game.

What I do:
-1- Create a new binding in Elite for your controller/joystick/flight stick, whatever and just bind a few random things.
-2- Now look up this file, open it in your favorite editor and check to see what the value is for Device="check this value"
-3- Now open your bindings file that needs fixing and check what Device="" reads there. And replace it with the previous steps value

That works for me. Also mind the "MajorVersion" and "MinorVersion" of the binding file in step 2! Make sure your old/backup binding file has the correct versions.
