In Flight Refuelling?

If you had a large ship with an escort of smaller ships, wouldn't it be good if the small ships could refuel from the larger one like with planes here on Earth? Something like a fuel line that goes into the fuel scoop hatch and attaches there.

Also a beacon could be activated and a message sent out that a stranded pilot needs fuel and on arrival fuel can be given for Credits.

Anyone with me on this?

(Exactly the same on the main Forum so bump it if you agree (or want to of course)) https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=130481

I was actually thinking about this yesterday when I was ru.Bing low on fuel in an uninhabited system. Which got me thinking why can't we refuel from canisters of hydrogen like in the old elite. It would certainly benefit explorers who might find themselves in a system with no scoopable star.

Which bit of the word "dangerous" are you struggling with?

;-)

even if you could refuel from another ship, escorting a large ship into deep space where there are no skim-able stars and fending off 10 pirates isn't exactly 'safe' is it? :P

If you hit the canisters hard enough do they explode? That would be pretty funny to see one of your escorts get blown up.
