Some advice requested.

Currently I have a Vulture I use for RES hunting and a Clipper I use for trading, not being able to land at outposts is a pain sometimes.

Thinking of trading both ships in for a Python - wouldn't be able to A rate it - but I doubt that's needed for just trading and RES.

Been playing around with E:D Shipyard and sort of settled on this build.

Now the question is - is it worth me buying the Python - or should I wait until I have more funds to kit it out better?

Buying it and selling both ships I have would leave me with around 20Mil in cash.

The only A rated thing I put on to the Python was the FSD. All other stuff was D or C rated.
But I only traded with it for the first couple days to get some better stuff on it.
Then I refitted it every time I wanted to do combat or trading.

Having recently got the Python and so far only got most of the modules to 'C', I can say you'll have no problems trading and RES hunting way before getting to 'A' rated.

Looking at your build, three things come to mind, firstly with fuel being so cheap you'll probably make more money from the extra 8 tons of cargo space than you'll spend on fuel without the scoop. Secondly, you may have issues with a 'D' rated distributer, I found I would run out of weapons power very quickly, so made the distributor my first (and so far only) 'A' rated module. Finally ( and this is a personal preference) I'd go for gimballed weapons rather than turrets if you intend to do some combat, turrets do the lowest damage of the three types, and so far I've had no issues fighting NPCs, albeit you'll spend a fare bit of time chasing stuff to get in you line of fire, but for me anyway it adds to the fun.

Noticed you fitted Turrets. Isn't there a bug with Turrets? Or has that been solved? Or was that bug specific to size?

Anyways, looks good to me, although since it has a pretty decent jump range and tank, you could drop the scoop for more cargo. ;)

Thanks for the advice - will drop the scoop and upgrade the power distributor... as for the turrets - never used them before so felt like trying them out :)

Ive got an A rated vulture and a trade optimized T7 sitting in dock, along with another 25 mil in the bank.
All together it should be good for almost 60 million spacebucks, and ive got access to jameson memorial (10% off everything).
Would it be worth it to trade all of them in for a python and even have some work done on it?

When you want to trade in a ship, remember to ALWAYS sell all the modules before trading it in, you'll get roughly 10% more back then selling it as is.

So sell the weapons, everything sellable and then buy the cheapest modules for the other ones that can't be sold totally.

Sokonomi - I'm aiming for a net worth of around 100M before I buy the python - current build is 84M - to allow reserves for insurance and a couple of loads of Cargo. With your 10% discount I would say aim for a net worth of 90 or so - would give you a cushion - just in case :)

I did exactly that, and have no regrets, I only had about 17m, but needing to work to upgrade her is turning into a nice little project.

When I bought my vulture I could upgrade it straight away, and somehow it felt less of an achievement, I realise I'd 'earned' the credits, but the lack of journey made it feel like I was missing something

Anyway, obviously remember that if you are used to the Vulture don't expect anything like the manoeuvrability with the Python, it moves and handles like a big ship should, not a problem with Anacondas and the like, but Eagles and Vipers take a bit of chasing, but for me, because it obliterates them when you do get them in your sights, having to chase them about adds to the experience.

One of the things I didn't like about the Vulture was the fact that everything smaller than a Cobra just died instantly with no effort or fight, it felt too clinical and didn't give me the sense of being the plucky privateer.

Question, if you get a 10% discount, are you also paid 10% less when you sell them, is it better to sell them at another station to get the full amount, or doesn't it matter?
