Heatsinks. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm confused on how to use those heatsinks and need some advice:

I've mounted them on a firegroup, in the same one as the Basic Scanner, yet nothing happens when I press my Secondary Fire key in Super Cruise, even though the Basic Scanner on the Primary Fire key works fine.
Is that a bug on the Basic Scanner part since it says somewhere that hardpoints cannot be deployed in SuperCruise?

It works fine in normal space, but how do you guys use those heatsinks in an emergency after jumping in a system too close to a star: Do you first exit Super Cruise and then launch them? Do you need to dis-join the Super Cruise key from the Hyperspace Jump key for this?
because if I hit that SuperCruise key the FSD just want to jump to the next stop or complains that it's not ready yet, meanwhile my ass is burning...

From the Wiki;

Heat sinks can be launched via a dedicated key binding or launched via the fire button of the fire group the launcher is assigned too and hardpoints do not need to he deployed to launch a heat sink.

Current issues are that keybinding does not always launch sink in Super Cruise, however fire button of associated Fire Groups will launch on SC providing the fire group is selected prior to entering super cruise. If you have more than one Heat Sink Launcher assigned to a particular fire group, each launcher will launch a sink at the same time so depleting stocks by one on all launchers in that fire group but Primary and Secondary fire groups do fire independently.

Thanks for the info Nanosmo, which confirms that it *should* work in SC, but that's not reflected in what I experience.
Certainly the keybinding doesn't work in SC, but neither do the Secondary Fire.
I'll have to try to switch it to Primary Fire to see if it makes a difference .... and log a bug then.

Yeah, it should work is SC. So if your still having trouble go ahead and send in a bug report, I'm sure its on the long list of bug fixes already.

I've personally never used them before, even when on my exploration track.

FWIW, I've used them a month or two ago in a T7 that tended to overheat, and I had no problem launching them in SC from a button of my HOTAS.

Here is how I use them :

I have the heatsink in the same fire / hardpoint group as my guns, but in secondary mode (the blue "2)... that way, I can always have them activated.... For usage, hit the "v" key (if you haven't changed the default). Works in SC and normal travel. Of course, you must have that hardpoint group "activated" (NOT deployed)

Starman, thanks for confirming that there is something wrong.
I have the exact same setup and it definitely does not work.

But just to clarify, how do you "activate" the hardpoint?

Hello Cmdr,
did you try to keybind your heatsinks?
I never had them on a fire group. But if it's a general bug on your side it probably won't help either.
Good luck
