Scary moment at a RES!

Postby Jeffers2112 » Thu Apr 16, 2015 4:21 pm

So I'm doing some hunting at a RES with my Vulture, which is a pretty mean machine.
I'd had a battle with an Anaconda that I'd taken down, I'd suffered some loss to shields but they were still up. Then another Anaconda appears, so I go after him. We slug it out for a while and I've got his shields down and he's taking heavy damage. Now, unfortunately for me, my shields hadn't recovered from the previous encounter and went down. He's down to a few percent so I hang on in there, but start taking damage. I've nearly finished him off when I got the dreaded "canopy compromised" messaged, quickly followed by it breaching, with a nice big hole in the centre. So I get a great direct view of the Anaconda exploding but I've now got 7 and a half minutes to live unless I can get docked. Fortunately there's a station only 7 light seconds away.... unfortunately I'm still mass locked from being in the RES. I pulled away perpendicular to the the ring and eventually hit SC. Approaching the station with just over two minutes of air left...then "server error!" and dumped out of the game! Restarted and found myself back at the RES, but at least I now still had 6 minutes on the clock. Dashed back to the station (again!) and got into the hangar with less than two minutes of air left!
That's the closest I've been to dying in a long time, time to start taking things a bit more quietly, I think.....

I think if I got a server error at that time I'd go crazy. I've gotten a few canopy failures but luckily been able to get back in time. Always fun because none of the lines or information is available in front of you.
