finally scored some good cash from a res

Postby robfm81 » Mon May 18, 2015 8:29 pm

I have been getting 5-10k bounties per ship for a couple of outings now I have started res sites...

Just now I took down my first Clipper (with the help of the local authorities) and earned my first 50+k bounty... YEY!

160k in 15 minutes seems fairly good to me - Cobra III here we come.

I'm in a Vulture, so I can take on the big ships at an RES. I was struggling last night - couldn't keep a connection for long, and all the time it was connected, I was just getting paltry bounties.

Accidentally clicked "solo" during one connection attempt. First ship up was an Anaconda. This is more like it... Only a novice, so bounty not huge (for a 'conda) but I decided to take a pop at it anyway. Before he went down, I could see a clipper and a dropship - not on my contacts panel - right there in front of me - close enough to ID.

This was the story for the next 2½ hours. Came away with 10million in the end - plus a couple of million in out-of-system (alliance & Fed) bounties that I will cash in when they get hostile here.

It seems that the bigger novice-ish ships have the better bounty to time ratio. It's all well and good going up against a deadly python, clipper or 'conda, but they take three times longer to kill and only return twice the revenue.

Good to know - just bought a viper to get me going and lasting longer against better ships - saving for a cobra but wanted bigger guns than my eagle could carry... :-)

Glad you're having fun BH in RES, robfm8. :)

I did quite well in my Cobra III in RES, and your Viper will be strong, too. With a good spawn of ships, you'll be able to make about $1 mil per hour most of the time. Shield banks and chaffs are very helpful when fighting in RES.

My biggest single kill was on Sunday.... got a Conda for $197,000!! Most Condas seem to be around $100k-$130k for me, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Yep - loved the viper for bounty hunting. I do like the vulture, but the viper packed more punch per credit.

It's been laggy as hell tonight though - so from last night's fortune, I've had a couple of hours tonight with reasonable success, only to be rammed to death by a 'conda. Boosted toward him, got a two second lag and boom - we hit. 1.2 mil in rebuy and about 4mil in new bounties, 3mil unclaimed from last night, overall profit is about 2mil for 4 hours work over the two nights. What one hand gives, the other takes away...

if you can, keep the Viper when you buy the Cobra - yes, have your cake and eat it too. you might find that the Viper's got better shields and speed than the Cobra does, and its closely positioned weapons are a bit more damaging at close range than the Cobra's wider spread ones. it's also a smaller target.

the Cobra is an excellent multi-role ship, but the Viper is a purpose-built fighter and you might regret it later if you sold it.

also, the Viper only needs about a fifth of the cash to A-grade it than the Cobra does - the Cobra costs about 6 million, from memory the Viper only costs around 1.2 million fully kitted out, depending on your chosen loadout of course

got a loadout for res sites - basic as I have no clue what I'm doing. Got all lasers but they burn out fast - gonna have to switch 2 to projectiles to save energy

When i first started I did bounty hunting, I think bounty hunting at NAV beacons on solo play is the most profitable, I'd make roughly 500k a run in my viper. But then I sold that and im running a type 9, much less exciting haha
