Hooray! Got my first new ship!

Actually, I could afford it from the start of my session - but it took me 3 hours of toil and paying fines and messing up missions before I could finally buy one. In that time the price had risen by 4,000 credits! :x

Oh, getting smashed against the side of the entrance whilst trying to avoid an incoming ship (and dare I say it - going far too fast) actually helped, as it got rid of some cargo I was having trouble disposing of. Just ignored the insurance/loan thing, jumped in a new Sidewinder with my 21,500 creds and headed off into the darkness.

Now I have a Hauler - but hope not for long, before I get my hands on something bigger/better.

I actually expected it to take much longer than 2 days (started properly on Sunday and couldn't get on the server yesterday) before I could upgrade, considering all the complaints about earning naff-all.

All loaded up with meds for the off to Azeban City tomozz. Having fun. :)

Gratz on your new ship :)
It does not take that long to afford a new ship. The problem starts when you are gona upgrade the ship :D
Well not a problem actually but if you plan to upgrade your ship to max it will cost a lot :)

Yeah, but luckily you will get a better trade-in price, so it's not a total waste of time. One smart thing to do with the hauler is to upgrade your FSD as soon as possible, will get you a hell of a lot more range, and thus more trading possibilites.

In other news, I'm sad, as I have two more hauls to do then I can aford a Cobra but not able to play until maybe next week.

Luckily I'll probably be way to drunk over the weekend to care though.

Edit: Almost forgot to concratulate you brixmis. The Hauler is a nice little ship if you treat it well.

Thanks guys - and thanks for the tip, Bigg Badger, I was wondering what I should upgrade first and the FSD sounds like a very worthwhile investment. :)

I'm mystified now. How do I 'upgrade' the FSD?

I tried clicking on the FSD in Outfitting, but just got fobbed off every time. I think it was telling me I already have 2 units, of the 2 permitted?

So no idea how to upgrade it. I tried in 4 different ports.

Oh - I'm also on my second Hauler now - first one blew up after overheating. I was exploring and scanning and got a bit too close to a star. The effects are good, as everything starts sparking and smoking more and more until BOOM! :D

Luckily it only cost me a couple of thousand for a new one.

You need to find a station that sells them. Seems like there's 2 ratings a letter and a number. The main outfitting page should tell you what max number you can fit, letter wise it seems to be the lower the better. Aulin and Styx are supposed to be good places for parts if you haven't ventured very far.

To the right of each module there is two numbers. The top one is the class or size fitted, the bottom one is the max size/class.

The rating is from A to H, where A is best.

There is also one called integrity which i presume has something to do with durability.

Basically blue text is better. And the higher the optimal mass the better. Not sure if there is a cap for how high the optimal mass is before it don't matter regarding the ships mass.

And one little thing if you buy a new one, the range indicator only take in account the added or subtracted mass. You have to exit outfitting and reentering it to see the difference.

I remember I was disappointed with the new range until I was out of the station and had 2 ly more fully laden than unladen before I bought the new drive.

Oh, and Asellus Primus or any high tech systems for that matter are great for upgrades. And they change their stock randomly and often.
