Hip 20277 trade route

Postby robfm81 » Sat Jul 18, 2015 3:33 pm

Does anyone do trade runs near here. Looking for something to get me started while I learn trading. I get the idea with the map and import export lines etc but I don't seem to make much.

are you going to trade with the Vulture, or do you have another ship somewhere? Basically, the Vulture burns fuel like mad, so it's not your ideal trade ship imo.

These sites can help you determine what goods to trade:

http://eddb.io/trade/loops

Best of luck.

I agree with FCB, any of those sites will get you started with profitable trade runs. Inara is a great one to get you going. Plug HIP 20277 into the search box on the market page, then look at the bottom right corner for the "Round Trips" section. Those will be the most profitable A-B-A routes. You can go into your options to set things like search range (ly) landing pad size, etc.

I work the same area of space as you (and have recently been RES hunting a fair amount in HIP 20277) and I can tell you.... there are some SWEET trade runs nearby! My Python carries 224 tons and when I have the patience for it..... I can turn just shy of $4 mil per hour doing A-B-A trade runs on a 35ly max loop. I look for stations that are not more than 1500ls from the drop point and I try to keep it down to 3-4 hops. I'll test a trade route and if it's more than 16-18 minutes from dock to dock, it's too long for me.

I would not recommend running trade routes out of HIP 20277 itself, since Fabian City is so far from the drop point. Time is money. Look at your surrounding systems and find one that works for you.

Also check out the Today's Trade Run message thread. Some of those routes are in your backyard.

I thoroughly enjoy blowing up stuff in a RES, but trade routes is where I make the most money per hour.

What ship do you plan to use for trade runs?

Think you can get a decent t6 setup for just around 2 mil.
Trade ships don't need much outside of cargo racks and an A class FSD, and that's not strictly a must it just reduces the amount of jumps needed.

Might also consider D class for the rest to increase jump range.
