Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

As I am not a console user (aside from an ancient Wii gathering dust) I haven't really kept up with the XBox announcements. Reading on Inara about the XBOX being a different instance than that of us PC users. Is this just for the beta, same as any beta on the PC, or part of the final XBOX game? If it is the latter has any indication been given why they would keep it separate?

It would be a shame that there could be new players who, like us, want to play PvE but would never see any of the other players in the PC side and vice-versa. I admit that I don't often chat to other Cmdrs except as general hails, but it is great to see that player blib on the radar, knowing you aren't alone!

As it stands (this is as far as I know, not I've not seen anything to gainsay it), the PC/Mac players and the XBox players will be in separate instances. Sorry. Reasons stated are things like patching (XBox stuff takes longer to get through the system, PC/Mac stuff can be thrown out by FD whenever they feel it is ready or necessary), possible advantages to PC/Mac players through control methods and frame rates and attacks by interstellar penguins. However, all versions use the same background simulation and Universe.

Yep, as Feldspar said, they are staying separate as Frontier doesn't want the PC/mac versions to be held back by the Xbox version with patches and updates, etc. Shame though.

That's a shame. Given that FD haven't had the best of update cycles maybe they could do with the delays that the Xbox would add LOL

Given the size of Mobius even I only see another CMDR if I am in a hub system or at a popular CG. I really do hope that the XBOXers get enough users. Wonder why can't the system change the instancing if the PC/Mac-XBOX versions go out of sync, but otherwise allow everyone to play together if in the same version?

Ouch! I ll hope in the future i can play with my ps4 and pc with the same user.... So it s impossible? Buuuuuuuu
