A friend of mine came round yesterday to buy a 16 track recorder from me (Zoom MRS 1608CD) because I do my recording on PC now and could do with the dosh to get a better GPU.

After he tried out the recorder he noticed all the PC stuff HOTAS set up and all that in my living room (a plus to being single, right folks?). We only knew each other from Punk and Metal gigs so gaming was never discussed. He has an X Box One and was aware of Elite Dangerous and had it on his list of games to get. So I set up my home made VR set up and strapped it to his head (lower resolution due to my current GPU) and his reaction was legendary. Words like "Fuck, that's huge" and "You're shitting me, if the Rift is better than this I'm going there". Of course the Rift is better than me messing around with a tablet and software I don't understand but heh, I got it working somehow!

It was good seeing someone get into it. I think he hoped X Box could do VR. Maybe a clever person can make that possible (I doubt it on the hardware front but we've all be wrong haven't we?). The thing is that to see someone's reaction to Elite really made my day.

Oh, and the Console/PC thing... There are very good reasons to choose a console. Convenience, plug in and get on with it, optimisation etc etc. Like I like riding my scooter but I don't want to be a mechanic. Good reasons to have a PC like; it's more powerful (and expensive) and I like to tweak things and experiment but get slowed down by security updates. We could all go on but let's just play the game, eh?

I think I'm ranting again. I've steered off course. Hurrah! We are all different.

Fly safe (boring) or crazy (that's more like it!), Commanders.

I doubt the Xbox one or ps4 would do vr, but I would expect it from the next generation.
The kinks basically need to be worked out and code polished, that will happen on PC over the next few years.
AKA the Guinea pigs.

That said since both the Xbox and the ps4 are running on basically PC hardware the difference (architecturally) has never been smaller so making multi platform games has never been easier.

In other words soon the only major differences between owning a console or a PC will be artifical limits forced on by either Ms or Sony, and theybwill cling to some oddities for sure.

As per the PC vs console debate (one of the worlds more pointless arguments)
I simply just want the better gaming experience, for 90% of the games I like that means pc (better graphics still, higher framerates) I got a ps4 for the rest. For now its only being used for gta5 and bloodborne.
And that only sporadically.

Yeah. What you said more or less. I've got a PS3 in my bedroom. Personally, at the time I thought, good bit of kit. I had a PC for recording music then built a gaming rig for ED (because I'm a soppy old git and want to relive the BBC Micro days)

I am in no position to criticise as I've had my obnoxious moments but deep down I want evertone to enjoy gaming on whatever gear they have. VR though, yeah, it probably needs to be a beefy machine and I don't think the consoles have got enough ooomph. But you never know'
