Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

Hello,
I've been trying to google "Elite Dangerous story" and have come across some articles describing how Power Play is part of the ED storyline, but have yet to see anything regarding storyline/campaign missions.
My question is: Are there such missions?

The Elite story plays out like live news you can participate in. The community goals play a central role in this, but I don't really know of any place other than Galnet News that is keeping a record of events. I guess you could also try looking around one of the many other fansites if you really want to know.

Other than begging/combat missions when there is a war active no not really, nothing linked to the "bigger picture" for want of a better expression.

How to I find new community goals?
Do I just read the postings on GalNet? Do I have to be within a certain range of the system where the CG is happening?

Usually I just ignore Galnet.

The best way I find is either read through all the BS in the official ED Forum Thread here, or go to Inara and lookthere.

Also, when you read news articles on GalNet, and they are attached with a Community Goal, there will be a button at the bottom of the news article that will take you to the system the article/goal is talking about. Thus you can see how far away you might be from participating in that Community Goal, and gauge whether or not you'd like to make the jump to do so.
