Ok, what is the best ship/build spec for exploring? If you have the best of everything?

I've heard a stripped down anaconda is pretty good. I haven't gotten that far yet. But out of the other ships, i'd say an Asp. That max size fuel scoop is just too damn good.

Asp seems to be the most popular these days. My Asp has a range of 34ly and a super quick 6B fuel scoop and it rocks. The Diamondback Explorer is pretty good and can get fitted out for about 10 million credits which helps for those on a budget.

Diamondbacks aren't rank limited.

If you don't have the money - go for the Diamondback explorer (costs only a few million to fit)

If you have a decent amount of money - the Asp is pretty much the perfect explorer because it has a huuuge glass canopy and the look from it is unobstructed, and pretty much amazing. Costs 12-14mil to fit for pure exploration depending on the discounts. Check my Asp out (there's a link to the fit on the bottom)- I just came back from Sag A* with 94% hull left.

And if you're packed with money - go for the Anaconda. It has the best jump range, topping it around 38-39Ly. You will probably need 170-180mil though

AM still kitting out the Explorer but it seems a rather decent ship for the money.. One day will have an Asp.. but for now have to go with what I got. The scout has slightly shorter legs then the explorer but is easier to kit out, only drawback I felt was the explorer's longer legs and extra slot for equipment. But it is a LOT cheaper to kit out.
