Should I sell my ships?

Have a type 6 with 104 cargo capacity (not a good idea to drop shields) and slowly trying to build up money.. but I also have a kitted out Eagle and DB Explorer. The only thing I am missing on the Explorer is the 5 mil FSD to make it fully kitted out.

What I'm wondering is if I should sell the Eagle and Explorer and put the money towards a T-7 and use that to get the money to rebuild the ships or just keep trading with less able T-6?

I have got a little fleet of three ships, an Asp explorer, Vulture and my latest purchase, a Python. But that's just in recent times.
In the past, I have had everything invested into one ship tailored to what I was doing at the time.
Single ship is a good way to go until you've got enough assets to be able to afford to leave ship's in storage.
I think it's like having multiple cars in real life...can I afford to have that (insert favourite car here) sat in the garage doing nothing?
I'm thinking I might drop down to two ships anyway. I'm finding that the Python is such a good armed trader that I might sell off my combat Vulture.....

PS. I did have a T7 myself for a while, earning the extra credits to outfit the Python, it's a good trading vessel.

I work under the ethos of selling my ship for a bigger ship. Now I have a T9 as my cash cow. This earns me money so I can have any ship I want (when I eventually get billions that is) Thus I operate only 2 ships at the mo. 1 to trade to earn bucks, the other to fight in CZ's for combat ranking. I never liked the T7, loved the T6 though. But the T7 made me enough cash to buy a clipper and that made me enough cash to buy the T9. I went Sidey-hauler-Cobra-T6-T7-Clipper-T9, Now I can make a 10M per 1.5hrs (ish) towards a nutjob Python. I intend to keep the T9 and when i earnt more I will kit out a Explorer Conda. My aim is a T9 & Combat Python & Explorer Conda. Its a long process though.

I have always prefered having multiple ships, at least one for trading and one for combat.

The t7 would cost you about 25-30 mil, can only use large pads so no outposts, This is money you can easily make back though once you have it.

Listing what ships I have at the moment isn't going to help you since my total assets hit around 600 mil this week.

If you can sell everything and afford an ok t7 (it has noticeably less jump range than a t6) that might be a good idea since it is a proper cash cow.

While I'm against the idea, it'd be logical to trade them in and use it to recover your fleet. You should be able to get twice the income your T6 provides, but like TorTorden has said you won't be able to land on outposts.

Having no other ships would mean that you'd also be limited to trading; no combat or any sort of exploring. Maybe it's just personal preference but like the others have said it'd be better if you have other ships in case you ended up getting bored with trading.

If you have or can find a pretty good route for your T7, that'd be great. Preferably a route that offers around 400k-1m of net income with 200-216T of cargo per run.

Selling everything gave me enough with enough and the ability to fill out to 216 cargo holds. With enought to not fully fill my cargo holds but I can start rebuilding.

I drove Semi's for a year and loved it so trading doesn't bug me too much, and it won't take me long to rebuild enough to get an eagle outfited for breaks to tag stuff. Exploring will have to be on hold for a bit though.

And had to laugh as when I thought about it being space trucking I remembered this song that was used in Redneck Rampage.

I sold my sidewinder, adder, and cobra, but kind of wish I had held onto the last two. Kept my Asp (which I made 80 million in to buy my python) because it's a damn good ship, even if not the most fun to fly. I say grind it out a bit more so you can afford your new ship, and insurance, without selling.

Out of any commander I've met, I think he has, perhaps, the largest fleet.

Well if we are "measuring"

I at the moment have an A fitted python kitted towards Res farming.
An eagle for fun. A viper for the same.
An Anaconda for trading (448 cargo. 19 ly laden)
And yesterday I put 35 mil into a vulture I hope to use for merit farming.
And the usual buttload of haulers and sidewinders.
Thinking of getting a second anaconda, this time for combat it's going to need somewhere between 300 and 800 mil..
