Tempted to sell

Just in case something goes wrong with the Beta 3 partial wipe, I'm tempted to sell my Cobra. Hopefully what credits you have will be easier to carry over to Beta 3 than the worth of your ship with its upgrades.

What say the forum dwellers?

I'm sure they know the cost of cobra's and the innards. I wouldn't worry about, after all it's a beta and we should be testing it, not playing it. They have every right to say - ok full wipe - 1000 cr to everyone.

I've never bought a cobra, I've still got my Sidewinder, but with decently FSD, sensors, guns etc - I have seen cobras for sale where they will give ME the money to buy one - about cost about minus 75k. But then I would have to go hunting for all the decent innards again.

A little concerned about the wipe myself. Yeah, it's a beta, and there will most likely be a full wipe at release, but in the short term I'd like to keep what I've eked together. Not much, just a sidey with a few improvements, but grinding towards a few better pieces and parts. I wonder if they'll wipe system info (i.e., cartographic data players had sold).

They have done a partial wipe before and I got refunded for ship and equipment. So no need to sell anything of.
And the game will have a total reset.

Same happened to me in an Eagle too. Deploy hardpoints then oxygen levels start depleating. Sold it straight away as the same thing happened in an Eagle in Beta 1.06. I was too lazy to bother figuring out the right upgrades for better power management.

Someone's going to suss out the Eagle I'll bet, and when they do it'll probably show it's true colours.

Aren't we all getting an Eagle as a Second Ship on release? Can we convince them to trade it for an Asp or Cobra?

You should get your credits and the value of your ship, weapons and modules.

I started up it up this morning, with the intention of selling up, just in case.

Problem was, at the starport I was at, I couldn't - and there was a very lucrative kill job on offer and I was in a jazzed-up Viper, so I thought "just take care of that, collect the reward and then sell up".

Hmmm - don't they say most plans only survive the first 30 seconds of battle? Well that certainly applied in this case! Took on an expert in a Type 9 from a USS. I was supposed to kill civvies to inflame tentions in I Bootis, so was doing that - and the type 9 might have had a nice cargo aboard, too. But his shields, though I kept knocking them out, seemed to pop back within 3 seconds, whilst mine were gone and my shield cells did nothing. It was also strange that, just as his shields were gone each time, my guns stopped firing and wouldn't start again until after his shields were back up. :x

At 50% hull damage I decided it was time to make a tactical withdrawal - or "run away" as the proper term goes :D

I'll take my chances on the money thing!
