Technical acquisitions USS

I dropped into an USS last night and inside was a type 9, now normally i would head out and find my next one, but I decided I would fly a little out the way and go downstairs for a drink...
Came back and a few other ships had spawned and a couple of pirates attacking the ships including the type 9
One of them being an imperial clipper.. I started attacking it and it's lasers where making short work of my shields, ended up using the viper tactic of flying past at high speed popping kinetics in his ass - eventually security turned up and assisted the traders - but - was a welcome change to something I would ordinarily jump out of... Anyone had this before ?

Caught one last night - just one attacker but it made a refreshing change.
The Type-9 scenario is normally a PIA as it seems to illustrate ED's unerring psychic ability to know that you've just entered the really-should-break-off-and-go-to-bed-but-one-more-Destroy-25-Pirates-mission-won't-hurt state.

Ha yes, all the time - missions appear as your thinking let's go to bed - mission timers are better now for allowing to take and sleep

and then follow up by completely neglecting to spawn any pirates..
Thus making what should have taken 30 minutes takes 3 hours.

Which is why I much prefer CZs CNBs & RESs - you can GFTO & sleep anytime you want.
- Plus, I'm getting a bit hacked off with the damage done to Monty even by successful 'dicting. On the (usual) low-pay but high effect missions, often repair costs are more than the reward

But to get back OT, I've always ignored USSs until now coz they invariably just contained a crate or two (stolen) & I've never sullied my spotless record with such petty 'crimes'. Maybe I'll have the odd delve from now on though, just to see if there's a bit of combat fun to be had after all

Oow, never seen this, I've always been in the "oh bloody hell, not you again", jump out camp, may just hang around now

Well, we hung around for a moment around such a T9, yesterday, because I saw that thread. But no pirate spawned.

It will, it must be random, and it was pretty busy when I came back can in hand - it must be similar to the navy convoys where wings of vultures appear after a couple of minutes

Happened to me, once - Jumped into a T9, sigh of disappointment, hit burners to fly away, tabbed out to go check something on Inara, tabbed back, T9 under attack!
Was away for at least 30 seconds, so they don't spawn that quickly.
Didn't have any pirate kill missions live at the time, so it isn't that!
How long do we have to wait for the pirates to turn up in the 'abandoned gold' pirate traps? A minute?

It all depends on the die cast by the RNG.
