Ship Where to next?

So, I've recently ammassed 2million credits in my viper Mk IV and I don't know where my next step should be? I already own a cobra mk III and I don't know if I should by a multipurpose or a type 6 and start hauling to ammas more credits.

Cobra Mk III plus a Type 6 is what I did until I could afford the Asp Explorer, now you have event more choice before then, the Diamond Back Explorer is quite good, or the Asp Scout.
But I'd personally go the Type 6 route first and amass some credits

Well on my way up the ladder I ran a Cobra and a T6 at the same time.....Cobra for BH when I got bored of trading in the T6....
Then once I had enough credits ditched them both and got an Asp......
You need some decent dosh in the bank though as my Asp cost about 38 mill......

It really depends on what you want to do, I think when I was in your position I brought a T6 to help me build up the cash for an ASP, but it was fairly boring and back then bounty hunting only brought in half the credits it does now. If I were to restart then I'd probably stick with bounty hunting until my cash pit was deep enough to afford a Vulture.

These sorts of questions are almost impossible to answer, because the answer is to buy the ship that best suits what you want to do next. Trading can be quite dull, but then again if you've never done it before then it's quite interesting at first, learning how to find the good routes (I remember back in Dec 2014 when I first started out, proudly telling my friends how I'd found a really good trade route which was netting me 400cr/tonne LOL. Now I don't even get out of bed for less than 2500cr/t)

Is it worth getting the vulture with its very limited outfitting space. How should you outfit it anyway?

How you outfit any ship should be down to individual playstyle, but if you stick two large lasers in, you can blast stuff to your heart's content without having to come back for ammo and despite not having any kinetic weapons the size of the lasers makes it matter less. As with many combat ships you have to play with energy priorities to get the most out of it, but the shields are strong enough for it not to be critical to stock class A, ditto the thrusters.

When I finally sold my Asp (and Vulture) to buy my Python, it was worth about 50M. I hadn't really optimized it for jump range, so had a bunch of A components that should probably have been D's. The 6A fuel scoop by itself was almost 29M credits!
I've got almost 50M back in the bank now with my Python. I have not yet decided whether to work toward an A7 power plant, or to buy another Asp and go for a long trip.

As you can see in most answers the common opinion seems that an Asp is a good next step. You can start with a modestly outfitted Asp and improve it when you earn more credits. It is a very good multi-role ship in my opinion. Although I have a Clipper as my main ship I often fall back to using my Asp for long range missions or work requiring Medium landing pads (the Clipper is too large for that).
