Home System

What is a good Home system? What defines a good system?

Since i chose Fawaol System, Government (Empire), population (90 million) & Economy (High-Tech), i don't know what else to look for to stay for good. What else should i look for? Should i stay on a system that most CMDRs are situated or must i follow based on my profession?

Depends what's important to you. :) Off the top of my head, I might choose a home base on these factors:

- Outfitting
- Close to the action (trade routes/RES's/pristine metallic rings/whatever)
- Near where other commanders hang out
- Controlled/exploited by a power that you want to pledge to
- Is a cool-looking system (whatever that means to you)
- Has a cool-looking station (e.g. Rafferty's Mobius)

To date, I haven't found a perfect system, and I don't think I ever will.

This ^^^

I've moved a few times in-game, but like Lanceor said.... pick a place that is close to what you like to do. For me as a bounty hunter and ALD supporter, I am close to several systems with Haz-RES in ALD space.

I have settled so far in Ugrivirii, controled by bounty bonus giving PP faction,
Decent outfitting and shipyard.
Good but not great RES's.
And some planets that's fun to tool around on in the buggy.
As well as not to far from Azrael and Exioce for when I want to help the order or whatever.

But as often as not and unlike RL, home is where I'm not :P

Yeah, I'd want decent outfitting and shipyard facilities, although the shipyard is less important. Then I'd want a station within 250 ls of the system entry point. Then a pristine resources planet with a haz-res in the metallic ring, all within 500ls of the station. A decent mission list, so I guess that means plenty of factions and plenty of active surrounding systems.

Still looking for this atm.

Well I seriously doubt you will find a station with decent outfitting and plenty of factions to give good missions and have pristine rings.

It's a game thing, once a system has reached a certain point they have already consumed the local resources while they where growing, I have so far only found good mining systems in edge space, either edge of bubbles or edge of borders all butt ends when it comes facilities, heck half of them don't have large landing pads.

It's easy, you can keep a dedicated mining vessel there, and have shuttle fitted hauler to go to and from with.
