Authorities in Eravate, Almar and Halbangaay have confirmed that theirs are the latest systems to experience mysterious technical issues, bringing the total number of systems affected by what some are calling 'the technological plague' to 22. All services apart from docking and shipyard access have been suspended at Ackerman Market in Eravate, von Bellingshausen Port in Almar and Haack Gateway in Halbangaay".

Really I think it is a prompt to start bringing meta-alloys to those systems. A very subtle community goal. Meta-alloys have been sold at Obsidian Orbital and it has stopped the affect of the virus. Go farm barnacles!!

That's part of it, but I do think it's part of a larger build up to something. FD are on record as saying that the Thargoids "are coming", but have refused to go into any details.

In fact, they have been particularly vague about them, in the last Q&A with DB there was the usual answers to most questions ("it's on the list", "it's something we'd like to do", etc...), but when it came to Thargoids he refused point blankly to answer any questions, even going as far as to say he was purposely avoiding those questions.

So whilst it is a 'slow burn', I do expect it to accelerate at some point, whether that's in this season or not of course remains to be seen.

Thargoid invasion will be season 4! That's the pull to get through season 3 - set the carrot off in front of the donkey nice and early -
UA's gently led to the what if's - season 3 will be another little piece - just as star citizen gets a few more modules released - Independence Day (film) kicks off in our batch of code!

That's my theory and in no way provable (disclaimer) :p
