Is space travel actually flying?

It depends on the definition used. Some use 'spaceflight', and as such it would be flying. But some say for 'flying' you need atmosphere, and this seem to be missing above a certain altitude.

Just go with the flow and use whatever others are using. :)

I would define it as flying if you are piloting the craft

And 'Crashing' if you are out of control, engines and hull shot out, or landing with excessive speed likely to cause injury ;)

If you put definition of flying into google it mentions flying as moving through air.

But English is an evolving language so if we use it in space context enough we can change the definition :)
