Elite: Dangerous PvE - Mobius

I have a couple questions that I hope someone can answer for me.

I've noted that when I log in theres 3 options, Open Play, Solo Play and the new Group Play option titled Mobius, I assume that the latter only has players of our group in it?

Also right now I'm having a hard time earning credits, for me it seems to be a slow process, I've tried a few times to haul cargo for npc missions, but the payout isn't all that great since I don't have a lot of cargo space, and sometimes with server instability I've gotten burned with mission timeouts and then I'm suddenly hauling stolen goods that I get fined for.

Most of the success I've had is hunting down bounties at Nav points, the results from this have been hit and miss too, sometimes I'll get lucky and get a decent bounty, other times I get smoked by my bounty, and a few times I've had Fed ships get in my line of fire when they decide to "help" and I end up with a bounty.

I've heard of extraction zones being a better place to hunt wanted npcs, but as of yet I haven't been able to locate any of these places.

I've scrapped and clawed my way into a Eagle, that I really enjoy flying, but I think my getting a new shiny so quickly without any funds to kit it out any was somewhat of a mistake, and to my dismay I've discovered that its sorely lacking in power flexability.

Any tips and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One way to earn some cash to equip your ship is to find a nice pair of systems and do a few (dozens) trade runs between them, with the occasional cargo mission. In some places you can do in-system runs too (for example hauling scrap between stations) for 1000-5000 Cr per trip with 6 ton cargo space.

I'd also wander a bit off the Eranin - Aulin - Asellus primus - I Bootis -cluster (although I earned my first few upgrades to my sidewinder in beta 2 doing missions to LP 98-132 & haulin' gold from there), maybe server problems are reduced when away from the heaviest player population?

In Beta 2 I liked H Draconis & LHS 3006(?), may have changed now.

In Beta 3 I went to find upgrades and stumbled upon good pair, see viewtopic.php?f=16&t=137&p=4955#p4935 for details.

For getting some legs: if you can't afford FSD upgrade, ditch the pea-shooters & basic discovery scanner, and if you're feeling confident in your flying, you can sell your shields too.

At the start you have to gain a bit of respect doing smaller delivery jobs, after a while the jobs should get a bit more valuable.

Yeah, Open Play is where you can meet anybody (literally ), Solo is still online (markets and events are still connected) but you'll only meet NPC's, and the Mobius group is ours, where you can only meet NPC's and group members.

There are two of them in LP 98-132 (a jump or two from Eranin). Just head to Freeport and you'll see two extraction zones when you get there.

Freeport is also a good place to sell your "stolen" cargo, BTW, because it's an anarchic system and you won't be fined for entering the station with stolen stuff that you can then sell on the black market.

I've helped out a couple of mates by having them join me at the Nav point in Eranin. I don't have any cargo space in my viper, so when I take out criminals they often drop high value commodities like Narcotics, battle weapons, booze, that sort of thing, that just sit there waiting to be scooped up. Just don't get caught by the cops or I'll have to turn bandit on them

Eranin borders LP198 (or some long string of numbers) which is an anarchic system. All you have to do is quickly scoop up the illegal booty and jump over to Freeport and sell them at the black market. You can make a LOT of money quickly this way.

I've had a few haulers. Never had any shields, got rid of the lasers and souped up the FSD (12LY with 22T IIRC). Sometimes you can stumble into a station and find (for example) 4 Superconductors for 30,000Cr on the BB. If you want a few mins after giving up your first 4, the mission re-appears. I've milked this a few times.

Like Kharma said in another thread, keep a trader type setup somewhere, cos IMHO it far easier to maintain a decent bank balance than other activites (although I'd be VERY interested to know what sort of money JonnyCombat made with his pirate antics).

I've stayed in Solo after too many issues with Online. I really need to get my act together and join the hooligans in TeamSpeak, but I'm afraid they'll nick all my beer.
